Here are some tips for incorporating the Curriculum Builder into your teaching practice: 1. Lesson Planning Use the Curriculum Builder to develop comprehensive lessons with everything you need in one place. To create a complete lesson, add: Lessons from Davis eBooks Text copied from your favorite existing lessons Downloadable files (handouts, resources, questions, etc.) Examples of artwork by contemporary and historical artists Examples of student artwork Videos (instructional, artist interviews, technique demonstrations) Links to artist or museum websites, or any other online resources Presentations from SlideShare, Google Presentations, Prezi, and VoiceThread 2. Presentation Save time and help things run smoothly when introducing a new project or lesson to your students. Instead of having to open and close multiple programs, the curriculum builder links to all of your digital resources from your lesson page. You can present content in the following ways: Using your LCD projector or smartboard, share your Curriculum Builder lesson with your students during class. Introduce the lesson content with a text module, click the page thumbnails to open your eBook directly to a lesson, then show example images and videos. “Flipped Classrooms,” Asynchronous instruction, or Online instruction: o Lessons shared with students are visible in their Davis Digital account, allowing them to access the content that you organize for each class at home or anywhere with internet access. 3. Assessment Use a tagged image set as a pop quiz or part of your final assessments. Add a tagged image set to your lesson, and open as a slide show. Pause the display and change images manually as students answer oral or written questions about each image. Post your rubric in the lesson so students can see what standards, criteria, and behaviors are expected.

4. Collaboration • Share your lesson with other teachers in your district to collaborate on shared lessons.

o Add other teachers to your lesson as Editors who can add, delete, and make changes. o Add teachers to your lesson as Viewers, who can view it but can’t make any changes. However, your

colleagues with View access can make a copy of the lesson and change it however they like without affecting your original version.

5. Save as a PDF for Sharing or Printing

• Export one, several, or all lessons as a PDF and share it with your Administrator. This can be easily printed and handed in or uploaded to an online program.

6. Incorporate State and National Visual Arts Standards

• Use the text module to list the standards addressed by the lesson. • Lesson Objectives are included on the lesson page when you add a lesson from a Davis eBook.

7. View the Sample Lessons and Help Page on Davis Digital
