We proposed further investigation of this issue of particular techno-ecological importance as it marks the beginning of a new technological

era in cars worldwide. To perform the following work we

relied on the consultation of websites, newspapers

and the same knowledge we have about the subject.

This work shows the power utilities and their use in the automotive field, we hope that this work

meets the expectations assumed.

INTRODUCTION

• Promote the use of electricity, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas

emissions produced by conventional transportation fuel base.

• Publicize the advantages and disadvantages when

buying an electric vehicle

• Operation of an electric vehicle

CURRENT STATUS OF THE ELECTRIC CAR

Page 6: Current status of the electric car

Gives promise of gasoline-free driving has yet

to be done, but many automakers are betting that the new decade will see electric vehiclesFord, Nissan and BMW pure electric cars are in limited use and plan to have them in their dealerships by 2010. Honda is developing a hydrogen-electric hybrid, and the new generation Toyota Prius will be able to recharge at home, promoting a reduction in gas consumption.

ELECTRIC CARS

Page 7: Current status of the electric car

Electric cars are noted for their high performance in the transformation of power from the battery into mechanical energy that moves with the vehicle (60-85%) compared to the performance of energy conversion in fuel tank mechanical energy that drives a petrol vehicle (15-20%). The present and future of electric vehicle batteries seem to go through the lithium ion battery, which is made ever greater charge density and longevity move allowing more powerful engines, but for now the average range of an electric utility is around 150 km. However, more expensive electric sports have managed to increase this range to 483 km.

Page 8: Current status of the electric car

We will try to clarify some points about this new type of engines. In this first post, we discuss the pros and cons when it comes to acquire a 100% electric car.If you are thinking of changing car and want to contribute to the demise of global warming, this post will be of great interest. Electric cars have one or more electric motors as main propulsion system. They installed batteries, usually lithium ion recharge in domestic outlets. Load times are very different from 8 hours to 20 minutes. Sometimes include a gasoline engine that acts as a power generator to recharge the batteries.

Page 9: Current status of the electric car

PROS ARE MAIN:

• Do not emit CO2 and use less energy• The energy use is inexhaustible (best if used renewable energy sources to produce electricity)• Recharge is cheaper than filling the tank (2 to 3 euros) which is a significant savings. Goodbye gas station, plug Hello!• Reduce noise pollution to zero, ie just as annoying noise of city traffic. No more noisy and smoky exhaust.• Long term maintenance is much cheaper. For example, do not replace the oil and filter change, etc.• It is beneficial for the environment and the planet.

SOME ASPECTS IN OPPOSITION:

Like all things that start, not everything is perfect. You should go polish some details which make these means of transport to be safe and effective. Therefore, it is time to see the cons that we have found in electric cars. Unfortunately, there are more than the pros at the moment. Let's see some examples:

• They have little autonomy (up to 100 km)• Your speed does not exceed 60 - 80 km / h. For the first two reasons its use is devoted exclusively to urban trips. It is impossible to go on a road with them, for instance• No public water supply ready for mass consumption

Page 11: Current status of the electric car

• They give too much power to the utilities, especially when they are in monopoly• Need an adaptation of garages (with electrical outlets) or gas stations.• If the batteries are purchased separately the price rises already higher than the conventional motor vehicle. In addition, the battery life is short, forcing to invest money in new batteries every so often• The first models are for sale are very expensive as a "utility" that is the model proposed for this type of car.

Page 12: Current status of the electric car

The price of oil has played a key role in maintaining electric cars unaffordable for many drivers because when gas is cheap alternative fuels can not compete. The batteries that store and provide electricity are expensive to manufacture, maintain and dispose. While economies of scale and continuous improvement prices will fall over time, owners of electric cars have not yet broken with their investment. The high costs of owning and operating an electric car are not the only factor that keeps them in the margin. Low top speeds and low acceleration are part of the image of electric car, even if the car itself is quick and responsive. A limited range long recharge times are also limitations in the eyes of many drivers.

Page 13: Current status of the electric car

Nor is it clear that these cars are truly more environmentally friendly than gasoline-burning counterparts. Although not generate emissions when driving, electric cars are as green as the energy they use. A gasoline-free car powered by electricity from fossil fuels may ultimately cause more carbon emissions than more efficient compact cars currently on the market.

The batteries themselves and bring their environmental challenges that must be treated as hazardous waste once it expires.

If the board of green cars should start production this year is due to a change in position, the desire to be the first to meet this demand or the need to comply with rules sidewalk on fuel efficiency, every major car manufacturer, and some small, are planning models that require little or no gasoline.Likewise, manufacturers are pointing to another obstacle: the high price. Although no official prices have been established, Nissan, Ford and Chevrolet are waiting to enter the market with prices between $ 30.000 and $ 40, 000. This is significantly higher than the price of the Prius hybrid, but still a bargain compared with the Tesla Roadster, the only electric car can be driven on highways in wide use today, which has a base price of more than $ 100.000.

In this paper we have information to appreciate the virtues of power, in relation to the automotive

world and its look like the man has been innovating every day to its best use, all with the intention

of achieving more methods of transportation healthy for the environment and health of people, however have

been affected by high production costs involved run an electric car and its adaptation to urban

transport. The most abundant information on the subject is related to expensive cars, we expect that they can adapt to the cost of ordinary people and this a good way to combat

pollution.
