There’s a lot to love...“Warning: may contain traces of awesomeness”

Amaze yourselfie...

Be prepared to be relaxed, exhilarated, enchanted and amazed when you visit Port Stephens on the NSW ‘awesome coast’... just a few hours north of Sydney.

Though just a small dot on the global tourism map, mother nature has provided Port Stephens with some pretty big star attractions!

We don’t like to brag but... our magnificent bay is twice the size of Sydney Harbour (and twice as beautiful!), our monumental sand dunes are the largest in the southern hemisphere (that’s big!), and we have a

front row view of some of the largest creatures on earth (welcome to the humpback highway!).

If size doesn’t matter that much to you then you’re bound to love our little treasures. Hidden gems worth discovering like our colourful underwater nudibranchs and sea sponge gardens at the famous Fly Point dive site, the seal colony on Broughton Island or our friendly local dolphins that reside in the bay.

This truly unique part of our planet, covering nearly 1,000 square kilometres, caters for the young, the young at heart, singles, groups, couples and families with something to please every taste and budget.

Love dunes. Love Port Stephens.

Stay in five star luxury, or camp out under a million stars, walk to the top of the headland or walk into the spa for a head massage. So many options to indulge, entertain, invigorate, excite or just relax you.

Taste award winning craft beer, fresh seafood, great wine and fine food. Ride a camel, go-kart, parasail and jet ski. Go surfing, kayaking, sailing, bushwalking and golfing. See whales, dolphins, koalas and seals... there’s a lot to love about Port Stephens.

Whomever said “it’s about the journey not the destination” has never turned the corner to arrive at Shoal Bay on a glorious Port Stephens day and been in awe of the scene before them. An irresistibly aqua Pacific hugging the white sands of a curved bay harboured beneath a lush green headland. It really is all about the destination!

The Port Stephens - Great Lakes Marine ParkOne of Australia’s most extraordinary marine

playgrounds, the Port Stephens - Great Lakes Marine

Park is something to behold, all 98,000 hectares of it!

Stretching from Cape Hawke near Forster south to

Birubi Beach at the northern end of Stockton Beach this

rare and precious Marine Park includes Port Stephens,

the Karuah River, the Myall River, Myall and Smiths lakes

and all their creeks and tributaries.

The Park is home to many species; dolphins, turtles,

fish, seabirds, sponge gardens, mangroves, salt

marshes, as well as some very special threatened

species and indigenous heritage sites. Each year

humpback whales linger along the Marine Park coastline

during their annual migration north to rub barnacles from

their sides on the reef offshore.

This Marine Park represents an opportunity to protect

some of the state’s most spectacular marine biodiversity

and provides the perfect playground for locals and

visitors alike. It also plays an important role in the region’s

economy supporting thriving ecotourism, aquaculture

and fishing industries.

Spend some time in the glorious Myall Lakes area, the state’s largest coastal lake system, which boasts calm, glass-like waters and silence you have to hear to believe! Ahhh... the serenity.

Take a Marine Park day cruise, see the dolphins, visit Cabbage Tree Island (home of Australia’s most endangered sea bird - the Gould’s Petrel), discover the southernmost rainforest island on the continent, snorkel right under NSW oldest lighthouse on Fingal Island, then hoist sail and head home via the most scenic landscape on the NSW coast past volcanic islands and the magnificent Yacaaba and Tomaree headlands. You will be in awe!

Love diving. Love Port Stephens.

Whether you’re an experienced scuba diver or it’s your first ever snorkel… everyone will enjoy diving in some of nature’s best underwater gardens at Port Stephens. Renowned for the best shore diving in NSW with a large marine park surrounding most of the sites, Port Stephens offers a multitude of dive spots... but we’ll just dip our toes in the water with the three main shore sites. (All must be dived on the high tide.)

Halifax Park... A popular, fully protected dive site where you are likely to see thousands of fish, moray eels, the occasional turtle and, if you’re lucky, a dolphin may just

swim by! This site drops down to 28m and is easily accessible via a stone path onto a sandy area.

Fly Point... This is a mecca for divers and snorkelers alike. The crystal clear water is perfect for spotting coral, fish, turtles, jellyfish, sea dragons, gropers, sponges, nudibranchs, remnants of shipwrecks and wondrous natural chasms. The extremely popular site has a maximum depth of 18m with entry via concrete stairs.

The Pipeline... A must see for macro divers and keen photographers, you’ll find small colonies and eco systems of fish, nudibranchs and seahorses. This site has a maximum depth of 16m.

Dive right in...

Worimi Conservation Lands Guudji-yiigu - a Worimi welcome

Visit the Worimi Conservation Lands (WCL), an Aboriginal owned park co-managed by Worimi Traditional Owners and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. The WCL includes Stockton Bight, dunes and forest, and contains an extraordinary number of Aboriginal cultural sites that pre-date the arrival of non-Aboriginal people. The 32 kilometre long stretch of beach, framed by some of the largest dunes in the southern hemisphere, make this a popular spot for four wheel driving, fishing, sightseeing, and picnicking with family and friends. A beach vehicle permit is required for all vehicles, and can be purchased at various service stations close to the park entrances at Anna Bay and Williamtown.

Help conserve the Worimi Conservation Lands for future generations:

■ All Aboriginal sites, plants, animals and historic sites protected

■ NSW road rules apply. 40 km/hr maximum speed

■ Do not drive over middens or shell accumulations - you may damage cultural sites

■ Do not drive on vegetation - this helps keeps the dunes intact

I love her far horizons...

Worimi Conservation LandsThe Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Bight Sand Dunes) cover 4,200 hectares... 1,800 of which are forest as well as 32kms of the longest moving sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. These truly awe-inspiring dunes reach heights of over 30 metres with slopes of up to 60 degrees to form a majestic, alien-like moonscape - a much sought after location for film makers around the globe.

These Lands form part of an important cultural landscape with special significance for the Worimi people - the Traditional Owners. The land and waters have been used for many thousands of years for living, gathering foods

and for cultural activities. Today the landscape features

an extraordinary number of culturally significant sites,

many pre-dating the arrival of non-Aboriginal people.

A coastal desert wildernessThanks to the generosity of the Worimi people we are

invited to experience and enjoy this special place (with

respect and without disturbing any Aboriginal sites).

See this monumental sandscape for yourself by four

wheel drive (with permits). Go fishing, surfing, or take an

organised tour for quad biking, sandboarding, horse or

camel riding. Enjoy a cultural tour including historic sites

such as the Aboriginal middens, Tin City and the Sygna.

Season to taste...

Life’s too short for bad food & wineFrom fine dining to fish & chips, the abundance of

local produce fresh from the farmgate and the fishing

trawlers, together with the spectacular location, has put

Port Stephens firmly on the map for foodies and top

chefs alike.

With local farms growing everything from avocados and

stone fruit to figs and macadamias - and of course the

abundant seafood caught daily - it’s easy for chefs to

design menus inspired by the fresh, seasonal produce

they find on their doorstep.

The spectacular dining options are matched by equally

stunning locations. Views over the water to watch the

sun sink slowly behind a marina, fish & chips by the

beach or fine dining in a boathouse.

Sidewalk cafés, great coffee, vineyards and

boutique brewery all add to the many options to

indulge your senses.

Chefs are drawn to the region by the lifestyle, location

and the wonderful produce available which all serve to

drive their innovations and delight the foodie’s palate.

Marty’s @ Little Beach... a little slice of heaven

From the moment you arrive at Marty’s you’ll notice... it’s the little things that count. A friendlier welcome, some helpful advice and just a little extra care. Quietly nestled between two of Port Stephens’ most idyllic beaches, Marty’s offers stylish motel-style rooms and self-contained apartments in a picture perfect location.

When you arrive, leave the car (and your stress) in the car park - you won’t be needing them - and take a two minute walk west to stunning Little Beach. Soft white sand, perfect swimming for the kids, boat ramp and one of the best scuba diving spots on the east coast.

Need a change? Walk five minutes east and find a protected spot on the uncrowded Shoal Bay Beach - postcard perfect! Take a big breath in... exhale... now relax a little... you’ve just discovered a little slice of heaven... without costing the earth!

Sails meeting...Whoever said you can’t mix business with pleasure

has never been to a Port Stephens business event!

Let’s face it - where else can delegates see historic

fighter planes, slide down a sand dune, parasail across

a bay, take a yoga class, enjoy fresh lobster on a

yacht, watch dolphins dive, bushwalk to a spectacular

lookout, taste beer and fresh macadamias and get up

close and personal with a whale?

Sure, that bridge in Sydney is impressive, Melbourne

trams are quaint, and seals at Sea World are

adorable... but just take a look at our sparkling bay

that’s twice the size of Sydney Harbour, the largest

sand dunes in the southern hemisphere, or the

amazing untrained seals that you can observe in their

natural habitat.

We really do have “beauty rich and rare”. It’s not just

our good looks that attract the conference market,

we’re also really good at providing memorable

activities, brilliant accommodation and great service.

Port Stephens is your destination for relaxation,

recreation, education, contemplation, motivation

and congregation!
