2014 Membership CampaignTriple Crown ClassicWere Off to the Races... and We Need You!
Our 2014 Membership Campaign will run April 14 May 9. This year's campaign is under the leadership of Trudy Moon of Air & Energy. Trudy is our Triple Crown Classic President" and the Vice Chair of Membership Development & Services on the Manatee Chamber's Board of Directors.
Campaign volunteers will race to the finish line in their quest to recruit new Chamber members and WE NEED YOUR HELP! When the Manatee Chamber recruits new members we all benefit through a larger network, more ideas, and greater support for initiatives important to you.
We Have THREE Ways YOU Can Get Involved:
1. Join our membership campaign by serving on a team and help us recruit new Chamber members! Trudy Moon will lead the charge as we race to the finish line to maintain our reign as largest chamber in the Tampa Bay region. Teams will compete for fantastic prizes and have a whole lot of fun!
2. Donate a prize(s). Our fantastic campaign volunteers will be working tirelessly to recruit new members and we want to reward them with lots of great prizes. For every member they recruit, they receive a prize. All of our prizes are donated by our amazing Chamber members. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to market your business.
3. Refer a business that is not currently receiving the 100+ benefits of being a Chamber member!

Want to Go Back To School?Volunteer for Project TEACH!Friday, May 9th
The 2014 Project TEACH program will be presented at all area elementary schools on Friday, May 9th. The program is designed to increase career awareness among 4th grade students and stress the importance of first impressions. For many students, this is one of the first times they have had a business volunteer in their classroomand the first time they have been exposed to careers other than those of their parents.
We need over 130 volunteers to reach every 4th grade class. Please consider volunteering and encouraging your staff/co-workers to participate, too.
Volunteering is EASY and takes only a few hours of your time on the morning of May 9th. The morning begins with an orientation breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at Freedom Village, sponsored by Manatee Education Foundation. During this breakfast, volunteers will be given all instructions and supplies. Volunteers then travel to their assigned schools to present Project TEACH from 9:00 10:00 a.m.
For more information, please locate the volunteer flyer in this months issue of the Current or call Jahna at 941-748-4842, ext. 172, or email at [email protected].

Annual Image Manatee Beautification AwardPresented to Manatee County Y Parrish Branch
The Manatee Chamber of Commerce was pleased to award the annual Image Manatee Beautification Award to the Manatee County Y Parrish Branch during the February Coffee Club.
Located in the quaint community of Parrish, this Y Branch, is housed in a renovated 1920s school house, and is a spectacular example of what can be accomplished through community collaboration.
The lush landscaping, found throughout the property emulates the natural Florida landscape with special emphasis on preserving its historical roots.
The image of our community is often interpreted based on our visual environment and first impressions. When driving along our countys northern corridor, the historical beauty of the Ys Parrish Branch is one of the first glimpses visitors and residents encounter which helps promote a positive image of Manatee County. Congratulations to the Manatee County Y Parrish Branch!

It was another fun evening at Business After Hours in March at The Furniture Warehouses Ellenton store. This is a great opportunity for professionals to network and renew friendships, as well as conduct some business in a casual atmosphere, says Mark Richmond, President of The Furniture Warehouse and host of the event. The Furniture Warehouse was founded by Mark and his wife, Stephany in 1988 with their first store, located in Sarasota. Their son, Morgan joined their team in 2009 after graduating from the University of South Florida.
The Furniture Warehouse has a strong commitment to the communities in which they serve and are proud to partner with such worthwhile organizations as Habitat for Humanity and the Manatee Food Bank with annual events.
In 2010 they were honored as Retailer of the Year for the entire state of Florida. In 2011, they were recognized by Furniture Today magazine as one of the top 100 furniture retailers in the United States. In 2013 they were among the inaugural USF Fast 56 Award winners celebrating the fastest growing USF alumni owned or led businesses in the world.
We extend a warm welcome to all Chamber members to come by and browse through one of our stores; we offer quality furniture and accessories at incredible low prices, great service and next day delivery, Richmond added.
