●  Purandara Dāsa 1484 – c. 1565) was a Haridasa, a renowned composer of Carnatic music, a great devotee of the supreme Lord Krishna, a Vaishnava poet, a saint and a social reformer. He was a disciple of the Dvaita philosopher-saint Vyasatirtha, and a contemporary of yet another Haridasa, Kanakadasa. His guru, Vyasatirtha, glorified Purandara Dasa in a song thus: Dāsarendare purandara dāsarayya. He was a composer, singer and one of the chief founding-proponents of South Indian classical music (Carnatic music). ●  Bihar Postal Circle has made an agreement with the Department of Horticulture for logistics of Shahi Litchi from Muzaffarpur and Zardalu Mango from Bhagalpur and its delivery to the doorstep of the people.

●  In view of lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus, Litchi and Mango cultivators are facing problems to carry and transport their fruits to the markets for sale.

●  The Shahi Litchi of Muzaffarpur and Zardalu Mango of Bhagalpur are famous in the world by virtue of their unique fragrance and demand everywhere.

●  Zardalu Mango ●  Zardalu is a unique mango variety from Bhagalpur. ●  It is known for its light yellow skin and distinct special aroma. ●  Jardalu mango, alongside Bihar’s Katarani paddy, and Magahi betel leaf, had recently got GI tag and had been

listed in the one of the Geographical Indications Journal issues in 2018.

•  The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a Migration Commission for employment of migrant labourers in the state.

•  The commission has been proposed to look into various factors associated with migrant workers' rights and to prevent exploitation while providing an official framework to ensure socio-economic-legal support for them.

•  Over 23 lakh workers and migrants have returned to the state.

•  Adityanath also directed officials that migrant workers be given insurance so that their life is secured.

•  The chief minister suggested that a scheme be launched to ensure their job security.

•  उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने राज्य मे ंप्रवासी मजदूरों के रोजगार के लिए एक प्रवासन आयोग का गठन करने का निर्णय लिया है।

●  Aduriz, in August last year, said that he will retire from the game at the end of the 2019-20 season.

●  The 39-year-old revealed in a social media post that he has made the decision after doctors advised him to have hip replacement surgery.

●  Aduriz started his senior career with Athletic but also enjoyed spells with Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca and Valencia.

●  Researchers using NASA’s Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) have found a fountain of high-energy particles erupting from the ice in Antarctica.

●  This could be proof of a parallel universe. ●  According to researchers, these particles may

actually be travelling back through time, which shows that there is a parallel universe just like us in which the standard laws of physics operate in reverse.

●  This could be an indication of some new type of physics, what we call beyond the standard model of physics.

flying over the continent of Antarctica. ●  It is the first NASA observatory for neutrinos of any kind. ●  Neutrinos are of great interest to astrophysicists as they are the only particle that can reach earth unattenuated

(not weakened) at all energies. ●  It detects these ultra-high energy neutrinos by use of the Askaryan effect. ●  This effect predicts the production of a coherent radio emission from the cascade of particles produced in a high-

energy particle interaction.

●  Giloy is a herb used in treatment of viral fever, malaria as well as diabetes.

●  The herb has a huge demand from pharmaceutical companies.

●  The initiative from Katkari community group decided to start an enterprise of selling Giloy in local markets.

●  The group set up Adivasi Ekatmik Samajik Sanstha, which attracted locals from the community.

●  Meanwhile they came across an advertisement of Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana run by TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in association with ST Welfare department, Maharashtra.

●  PMVDY is a retail marketing-led value addition plan for Minor Forest Produce (MFP), meant for forest-based tribes to optimise the tribal income.

●  The group approached them and soon the demand for Giloy picked up.

●  Katkari Tribe ●  Katkari is one of the 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. ●  Katkaris were historically forest dwellers. They are located primarily in Raigad and in parts of

Palghar, Ratnagiri and Thane districts of Maharashtra as well and in some places of Gujarat. ●  The British administration had classified them under the Criminal Tribes Act, 1871. ●  The name Katkari is derived from a forest-based activity – the making and barter or sale of

Katechu (kath) from the khair tree (Acacia Katechu). It is produced by boiling wood from the Khair tree and evaporating the resulting brew.

●  A brood of periodical cicadas, noisy insects that breed underground for as long as 13-17 years are expected to emerge into some states on the east coast of the US this year.

●  This year, the grouping dubbed Brood IX will emerge after spending 17 years underground, into states including Southwest Virginia, parts of North Carolina and West Virginia.

●  The emergence of over 1.5 million cicadas per acre is expected.

●  According to Virginia Tech, people living in these areas will experience a “unique natural” phenomenon that has not occurred in most of the area since 2003.

●  For small store owners in developing countries, the launch of this platform could mean easy access to the large customer base of the social media giant, Facebook.

●  With WhatsApp and Instagram, the trio makes a formidable presence on the internet.

●  The launch of this platform coincides with the plans of many other global conglomerates to launch themselves in the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME) segment, by providing some kind of platform or training space.

●  It is unclear if Facebook Shops would be launched in India as well.
