Aphrodite was also jealous like Psyche’s sisters. She called her son, Cupid, and told him to shoot Psyche with one of his arrows and make her fall in love with a monster.

Cupid had to obey his mother’s rules so he flew to Psyche’s bedroom . He drew back his arrow and accidentally cut himself. This made him fall in love with Psyche.

Psyche’s father wanted to know why Psyche was not yet married so he sent an oracle to send her to a mountainside to find her husband. On the top of the mountainside there was a castle.

Psyche did see her husband, but only at night when she couldn’t see what he looked like. When she would wake up, her husband would be gone.

After she recognized Cupid, wax fell from the candle and woke him up. When he woke up he realized that he couldn’t trust his wife so he got up and flew away.
