What an amazing effort for Mullion Creek, Clergate and Spring Hill

Principals, school leaders, colleagues and community friends shared in a

special day of celebration and learning activities. Thanks again to Mrs

Philpott, Mrs McAnulty, Mrs Beer and their school communities for their

generosity and thoughtful hampers. The children were thrilled with the

jumping castle, robotics and delicious barbeque that was supplied by

these wonderful schools. We were also appreciative of the parents and

community friends who attended along with our Mitchell Director, Mr

Dwyer and the Member for Orange, Mr Donato. Well done and

congratulations for organising this special and memorable event.

MRS MCFARLAND’S SEWING SCHOOL

Mrs McFarland was extremely productive in the holidays organising our first foray into hand and machine

sewing to introduce basic skills in the craft along with principles in design. The students have embraced this

initiative with great vigour and enthusiasm and are often seen beavering away at lunch and recess times

as well. We would like to congratulate Mrs McFarland for sharing her creative talents with our children. Also

we welcome this week Mrs Jan Gibson and Mrs Di Strahan who have offered their assistance in the sewing

room. Thank you to Kathy Williams and Jasmin Boys from Spotlight in Orange who have sponsored this

learning project this term! We are looking forward to entering these items in the Cumnock Show

Needlework section next year!

2018 INTERSCHOOL JUNE GRAHAM CHALLENGE CUP

Sixteen talented and skilled hockey players took to the Orange Hockey Centre yesterday to contest the

June Graham Cup. There were over 200 students in attendance and we were thrilled to field 2 teams in this

competition. Congratulations to Hannah, Marc, Emily, Ethan, Ella, Molly, Thomas, Gracie, Zali, Charlie D,

George, Austin, Roman, Macey, Kiera and Rosie for their outstanding sportsmanship on the day and thanks

to Ray Lewis for accompanying me on the bus and to Carmel Vickers, Nic Lewis and Rob Armstrong for

supporting and cheering on our teams.

P&C MEETING AND GIBSON FAMILY CONTRIBUTION

Last week we held our last P & C meeting for the 2018 school year. A number of fundraising ideas were

discussed along with the Cumnock Public School Masterplan update and school initiatives and programs.

The P & C along with the school are preparing a joint Expression of Interest for the Drought Communities

Programme through Cabonne Council that targets infrastructure projects that will provide a long-lasting

benefit to the community. I would like to thank Mr James Flick for supporting me with this EOI. As this was

our last formal meeting for the year, the members spoke of the outstanding contributions made by our

President, Mr Scott Gibson and his family to our school and community. We wish Scott, Kelly, Nick, Ella and

Hannah every success in their future endeavours in 2019.

MRS BRUCE RESTORES ORDER TO ARCHIVES

We have been delighted to welcome back Mrs Robyn Bruce to another important

administrative role this term. Mrs Bruce has kindly offered to restore much-needed

order to our archives and records and will be with us for a number of weeks to

complete this massive task. Thanks to Mr Whiley and Mr Rudd for supporting Mrs

Bruce with so much enthusiasm and hard work!

PD HEALTH /WELLBEING DAY FOR YEAR 6

Marc, Elizabeth and Hannah were fortunate to be part of the OSSA Year 6 PD Health/Wellbeing Day last

week held at Emus Park in Orange. There were sessions delivered by health, sporting and police

professionals. The students were involved in PD, touch football, yoga, healthy eating and cyber safety

sessions throughout the day. Thanks once again to Mrs Philpott and her amazing staff at Clergate for

leading the organisation of this wonderful event.

TROOPER JONES LIGHT HORSE BEAR

Trooper Jones Light Horse Bear arrived by post last Friday to become an important

member of our school community. We would like to thank Garry and Mary McGlone

from Townsville for their thoughtful and generous donation of this special bear in time

for Armistice Day in a few weeks. Trooper Jones will be part of our special Assembly

on Friday 9th November in the Library to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice

and the end of the First World War.
