Culture ... is that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.

Silent Features of Pakistani culture

Mixed Culture1. Origen back to indus valley civilization.

2. In ancient days, people from South Asia, Central Asia, Middle east, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran come to this area with their culture. Their cultures impact each other from their a mixed culture evolved.

3. Pakistani culture also influenced by its neighbouring countries which are China and India.

Social Values1. Respect of their elders

2. Love with the children

3. Give respect to the women

4. Needy and poor are helped

5. People share pleasure and sorrows

Religious Harmony1. Before Islam, local people follow their own religious principles.

2. But when the saints of Islam spreads the Islamic teachings, they accept it.

3. Now their important identification is Islam.

4. And they give less importance to caste and colour.

Dresses1. The national dress of Pakistani people is Shalwar Qameez both

for men and women which are differently made for them.

2. In Punjab, pagri(turban), dhoti, kurta, gharara, paranda and khusa.

3. In Sindh, women wear lengha choli, men wear sindhi kurta and ajrak.

4. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, males wear kufi, candhari cap, turban, Leader sometime wear karakul hat and women wear qameez with heavy glasswork.

5. Famous footwear is peshawry Chappal.

6. In Baluchistan, men wear shalwar kameez with waist coat and women wear special made baluchi suit.

Cuisine1. In Punjab and Sindh chicken, meat, pulse, biryani, Palau, milk,

lassie are liked.

2. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan saji (roasted chicken) and dry fruits are liked.

Performing Arts1. Popular music are qawali, traditional music and westren music. Dances1. In Punjab, bhangra, ludi, sammi, jhumar, sarieki folk dance.

2. In Sindh, dhammal, jhumro.

3. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attan, khattak dance, chitrali dance.

4. In Baluchistan, lewa, chap, jhumar.

5. Drama and theater are also important.

Visual Arts1. Paintingso Paintings are important inheritance of Pakistan.o Famous painters of Pakistan are Abdul Rehman Chughtai, Jamil

Naqsh, Ismail Gulgee, Ajaz Anwar.

Faisal Masjid, Minar-e- Pakistan, Tomb of Shah Rukin-e- Alam etc.

Traditions

Tradition of Marriage1. It is our religious obligation.

2. First there is a Hina ceremony.

3. Meal is arranged from bride’s home on marriage day.

4. Next day, there is a wallima from bridegroom.

Birth of Child1. After the birth, immediately Azan is given in the ear of newly born

child.

2. Gifts are given to newly born child.

3. There is Aqeeaqa Ceremony.

Funeral Rites1. After the death of a person, relatives and friends gathered in that

persons home.

2. The body is bathed and shrouded.

3. After the funeral prayer, body is buried in the cemetery.

4. Quran is recite for the deceased.
