DESCRIPTION

Rain boots and rain jackets are in the closet, cultural season starts again. After this aquatic interruption, we welcome a French documentary filmmaker, Philippe Borrel , for two mirrored screenings followed by a substantive debate. Chill Bump, a duo of a new kind, verbalizing in English on airy beats, which opened the concerts of C2C and Wax Tailor will be in Kathmandu for a unique performance in our garden. We also welcome the theatre play Fear and Trembling (subtitled in English) adapted from the novel by Amélie Nothomb staged by Layla Metssitane. Any resonance of title with real events is purely coincidental and fortuitous.... The actress, Layla Metssitane, is not Japanese but Franco-Moroccan. She adjusts and plays the story by introducing a perspective that encourages reflection. In October, our garden will vibrate with jazz and Latin sounds thanks to The Latination, a beautiful musical collaboration between French and Indian musicians. As usual, everyone is welcome at AFK!

Alliance française of Katmandu invites the documentary filmmaker Philippe Borrel to present two of his documentaries built in mirror according to a shot reverse shot concept. The two screenings will be followed by a debate and interactions with the filmaker.

Un monde sans humains / 2012 / 52 minutes / 3:00 pm

For about a decade, technology has been progressively and

surreptitiously creeping its way into our daily lives to a

point at which we have become totally dependent on it. These

warnings are at the heart of this investigative documentary's

reflection, at a cross-section of huge financial stakes, powerful

lobbies and people who are sounding today's alarm bells. The

fusion between man and machine has already started and it

is high time to question where exactly does man stand in this

race for progress.

L'urgence de ralentir / 2014 / 85 minutes / 5:30 pm

The documentary tells stories about citizens of the world

who have joined forces: creating cooperative and supportive

groups, giving birth to a series of projects able to find a real

alternative to the traditional concept of growth at any cost and

rhythm. the documentary has won this year the Green Up Film

Festival.

Come for the unique concert of Chill Bump on Friday 18th September at 7:30 pm in AFK garden.

Since the group was founded in 2010, Chill Bump has proven to be a collaborative endeavor of an entirely new kind. The alliance between Miscellaneous (MC) and Bankal (Beatmaker) was both unique and powerful from the get-go; enriched by the fusion of their respective English and French speaking heritage.

It was their unique spirit that piqued Wax Tailor and C2C’s attention, allowing the duo to open venues for both artists respectively.

7:30 PM

Come for a unique concert of The Latination on Friday 9th October at 7:30 pm in AFK garden.

The Latination is one of India's only virtuoso and genuine Latin jazz outfit, a powerful and soulful collaboration between French and Indian specialists of jazz and Latin music. Its repertoire ranges from the festive sounds of salsa and rumba to modern jazz, blending the dance-compelling power of Afro-Latin rhythms with the intellectual streams of dense harmonies and sophisticated melodies, the discreet sweetness of jazz ballads and Latin boleros with virtuose improvisation and solo performances.

RY Our games library is available at “Le Bistrot”

according to a café-games concept.

The collection includes French and Nepalese games: 60 French edition games and 5 Indo-Nepalese games. The French and Nepalese playing cultures are both honored.

Our wide variety of games (family games, strategy games, role playing games, skill games and general knowledge games) can be appreciated with a cup of coffee or home-made ice-tea.

This service is above all a meeting place around games. It helps to create a pleasant atmosphere and gather the team, students and teachers. Games in French are a logical complement to the learning of French language and act as new educational tools for teachers.

Games can be borrowed only to play on the spot.

How to borrow a game? All members and students of the Alliance française of Kathmandu are allowed to borrow games on the spot upon the presentation of student or membership card to “Le Bistrot” counter. A verification of the game must be done once returned.
