LOCKS & LOCKERSAll students will be issued a lock and a locker. If you bring in your own lock, you must supply the teacher with the combination or key to be kept in the office. A locker has been issued to provide a secure place for your personal items, book bags, uniforms (etc). It is your RESPONSIBILITY to keep your locker locked at all times. The administration or instructor may check lockers at anytime. We are not responsible for items missing if students leave items out or not locked up in there locker.

LOCKER ROOMS• Students are expected to leave the locker room clean upon

departure. MALES will use the men’s locker room only, and the FEMALES will us the women’s locker room only. Locker rooms may be locked or supervised for any of the following reasons:

• MISCONDUCT• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY• FAILURE TO KEEP LOCKER ROOM CLEAN• EXCESSIVE USE OF LOCKER ROOM• HORSE PLAY• FIGHTING• LOCKER ROOM PRIVILEGES MAY BE REVOKED AT ANYTIME!

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORMS

• All students are required to have a completed emergency medical form on file before entering the lab. NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE LAB WITHOUT A EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORM ON FILE.

MEDICATION

• If it is necessary for a student to take medication, parents must drop off the medication at the school guidance office for the school nurse to dispense. The instructor can not and will not dispense any medications.

NO SMOKING

Absolutely NO SMOKING allowed!Students caught with any tobacco products, cigarettes, chew, snuff, drugs, electronic cigarettes, or even suspected of having these items will be referred to the office for disciplinary action.

ATTENDANCESEE COPLEY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT HANDBOOK. HOMEWORK ASSIGNED OR BOOKWORK TO BE TURNED IN WILL BE MADE UP AT THE INSTRUCTORS DISCRETION ON HOW MUCH TIME WILL BE NEEDED FOR MAKE-UP WORK. ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT IN LAB. LABS CANNOT BE MADE UP. POINTS FOR THE DAY OF AN ABSENCE IN LAB WILL RESULT IN A ZERO. FAMILY SITUATIONS AND FUNERALS WILL NOT BE COUNTED AGAINST THE STUDENT WITH WRITTEN PERMISION FROM A PARENT.

TARDY/LATE ARRIVALJUNIORS ARRIVE AT 7:45 AND DISMISSED AT 11:05SENIORS ARRIVE AT 10:45 AND DISMISSED AT 2:10

Juniors will have five minutes to gather materials for the days class. On lab days students will have five minutes to change into uniform and be in their assigned work area for work. Seniors will have five minutes to gather materials for class and be seated in there assigned seat. On lab days students will be given five minutes to change and proceed into their job station.

DISMISSAL

DISMISSAL FOR STUDENTS WILL BE DONE AT THE INSTRUCTORS DISCRETION. ALL AREAS (CLASSROOM OR LAB) WILL BE LEFT CLEAN, ORGANIZED ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS. AFTER THE INSTRUCTOR HAS INSPECTED AND GIVEN THE OK, JUNIORS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 11:05 AND SENIORS AT 2:10

PROFESSIONAL LOOK/DRESS

UNIFORMAll students are required to be in uniform unless specified by the instructor. Uniform of the day must be clean, wrinkle free, and fit properly. Both uniforms must be on hand and ready to wear at all times. No jeans or shorts of any color may be worn in the dinning room. Chef uniform must be worn at all times in the lab. Students not complying with the dress code will be given a zero for that portion of your lab grade.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE & HYGEINE

1. Daily bathing and use of deodorants are a must.2. Hands should be washed regularly while working3. Nails should be manicured, no polish or bright colors4. Hair must be clean, pulled back and restrained5. Males need to be clean shaven each day6. Make up should be put on conservative7. Proper footwear should be worn at all times8. Uniforms should be wrinkle free, clean and on hand everyday9. Failure to comply with any of the above items will result in a lowered grade.

JewelryAll jewelry including rings, bracelets, necklaces,

large dangling ear rings must be removed before entering the lab. They are to be place in your

locked locker. If valuable you may give them to the instructor to be locked up in the office.

FIRE & TORNADO DRILLSFailure to follow proper procedure in a fire or tornado drill may result in a office referral. Fire and Tornado drills are a serious matter! During a fire drill, turn off equipment or stop working and report outside to the parking lot. Please stay together as a class because attendance needs to be taken. During a tornado drill, all students will report to the senior back classroom. Line up along wall and assume the tornado position.

HALL PASSESStudents are not allowed in the halls without written permission from the chef instructor. All students receive a handbook with a section for hall pass usage. Students found outside the classroom without permission could be referred to the office. Students are to enter and exit the classroom quietly and in an orderly manner.

SUBSTITUTESSubstitutes are to be given your full cooperation. Substitutes are to be treated with respect and courtesy. Failure to do so will result in an office referral.

GOSSIP & DISRESPECTGOSSIP WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, PERIOD! Leave all your personal grudges, peeves, and problems out side the building.

Disrespect towards the chef instructor or other students will result in a office referral. Profanity, Cursing, Yelling, Arguing, Teasing, (etc.) will not be tolerated.

Insubordination towards the chef instructor will automatically result in a office referral.

Electronic Devices

Electronic devices such as cell phones, ipods, tablets, I pads, are to used at the chef instructors direction.

Students texting, on social media, playing games (etc.) will result in chef instructor turning in device to administration. 1. First offence – turned into office and student will pick up at end of day2. Second offence- turned into office and students parent will have to pick up3. Third offence- turned into office, parent pick up, and will not be allowed to have in

school the rest of school year.

JOB STATIONSStudents are expected to follow Safe and Sanitary rules and regulations At All Times in the Lab Area. Do not use equipment with out proper instruction. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO USE THE SLICER WITHOUT THE INSTRUCTORS PRESENCE! When in doubt of using a machine, see an instructor before using it or turning it on.

After opening a food container or package, place it in the proper storage container and COVER IT, LABEL WHAT IT IS , DATE, and place it in the proper storage facility. Do not use any food that you think is spoiled, damaged, or unsafe. Ask the chef instructor first before throwing it out.

Students are responsible and expected to clean up all studey and work areas BEFORE dismissal. Only the Chef Instructor or Chef D Hote can give the permission for dismissal. NO ONE CHANGES UNTIL THE KITCHEN, LAB AREA, CLASSROOM ARE CLEAN AND SANITIZED!

JOB STATION RULESWhen working, you are to stay in job station or designated area. Do not leave your work until your area has ben washed, sanitized and organized. The Chef Instructor will permission. An exception may be granted for any reason of a safety matter. Please notify the chef instructor immediately.

Students are expected to complete all assignments or tasks assigned by the instructor or senior managers. When your work is completed in your job station…you are expected and required to help in other areas. Check with instructor for extra assignments.

The Chef Instructor will and at any time reserve the right to change students job station assignments and duties.

Students are not allowed to change job stations or help others without gaining permission from the instructor.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSDO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO GET OR BE CAUGHT IN A STICKY SITUATION WITH A GUEST. ANY PROBLEMS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE CHEF INSTRUCTORS ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS HANDLE YOURSELF OR ANY SITUATION IN A PROFESSIONAL MATTER.

STEALINGAlways remember to keep lockers locked and valuables put away. Anyone who is caught stealing, destruction of property, careless damage to equipment and any other school property will be reported to school administrators and the police. There is NO SECOND CHANCES!. No one should touch anyone else’s belongings or property. The school has the right to search any locker, personal item that is brought onto school property. KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF AND LOCK UP ANY VALUBLES.

STUDENT ILLNESSStudents are expected to call the school if they are going to be absent or late to school. Please call both schools to let them know that you will not be present in school.
