From the Principal

Our school, as part of the NSW Department of Education, has introduced proactive measures to limit the impact of COVID-19. The school is constantly receiving advice from the NSW Department of Health and this is being updated on a regular basis. I can assure you that the school is following current protocols. Bullying. No Way! Day This Friday will see our school participate in our annual Bullying. No Way! Day. This day aims to raise awareness around what bullying is and how students can detect signs of it and act accordingly. Our School Councillors will be supporting teachers to lead sessions in each classroom throughout the day. Students are asked to wear ‘blue mufti’ to celebrate the day. Easter Egg Raffle Although our Easter Hat parade has been cancelled this year, our Easter Egg Raffle will continue. Raffle tickets will go home this week to enable time for tickets to be sold. We have started to see a few eggs come into the school, so please drop them into the plastic tub in the foyer. William Lindsay Deputy Principal

Missing a Toy? A small zebra squeeze-toy was found in the COLA after pick-up time on Friday afternoon. If your baby has dropped this, please see the ladies in the front office.

Debating Workshop Last Tuesday five students travelled to Dubbo West Public for a debating workshop. The workshop was led by Tony Davey, Debating and Public Speaking Coordinator from the Department of Education. The students participated in a range of fun activities designed to develop their debating skills. Students were also given valuable hints and information regarding the rules and expectations of the debating competitions. Every student was able to work as part of a team and write rebuttals and deliver these to the audience. Although the students (and teacher!) were exhausted by the end of the day, they gained valuable insight into what makes a good debater and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A special thank you to the parents and carers who provided transport and support on the day- it was much appreciated. Sarah O'Connell Canteen News On Wednesday 1

st April we will be having our first

‘Special Meal Deal’ for the year. Order forms were sent home today and need to be returned to the canteen by 9:30am on Friday 27

th March. Orders can also be made

Year 5 Lake Burrendong Excursion Last week year 5 went on an amazing trip to Lake Burrendong. This was an awesome experience. When we first got there, we were split into cabins and our activity groups, we were in the Emus and the other groups were Redbacks and Kangaroos. The first activity we did was the high ropes, it was fun but challenging at the same time. When we were at the high ropes we saw a huge, scaly, scary goanna. Our other favourite activities were BMX, archery tag, rock climbing and, best of all, the slip and slide. We had great instructors and great food. To top it all off, just for a bit of more excitement, one of the girls’ cabin got a visit from a brown, legless creature (snake). Luckily it was caught by one of the instructors and relocated. We hope we will be able to go back again one day. By Darcy Roberts and Emerson Foxall.
