Megane GT Turbo 162kW hatch

EXHILIRATING DRIVEThe Megane GT Turbo 162kW is Renault’s response to clients who expect a high level of performance, without sacrificing comfort and practicality. On the outside it sports specific GT bumpers, dark grey door handles and side mirrors and sporty 18 inch alloy wheels. GT insignia on the boot door and under the front logo diamond distinguish it from the GT-Line. On the inside it is all sport and sophistication with fabric and leather seats with exclusive GT insignia, specific RS instrument cluster and an R.S. silver stripe on the dash.

The spirit of this version comes from the well known and much praised 2.0l Turbo Renault Sport engine. Maximum power is 162kW between 4,750 and 6,500 rpm. This translates into a 0-100km/h time of only 7.6s, and a maximum speed of 240km/h. This engine is extremely responsive thanks to its maximum torque of 340Nm available from 2,400 to 3,500 rpm. It features Start & Stop functionality and fuel efficiency for its level of performance is good, using just 7.3l/100km.

The GT's chassis is derived from Megane RS but with specific suspension settings and specifically calibrated power steering. The GT's brakes are performance inspired with front discs diameter measuring 320mm. The GT also features the same high-performance tyres as Megane R.S. Lux.

FRICTION REDuCTION. diamond-Like carbon (dLc) coated cam followers & graphite-coated piston-skirts are high-tech surface treatments with low friction coefficients used in F1®. internal friction is reduced by 20% and more which translates to less wear and tear, reduced fuel consumption plus improved performance, quality and reliability overall.

OuTPuTSResults of the above mentioned transfered F1® technology is an exceptional output for a 1.2 engine of 97kW at 5,500 rpm and excellent maximum torque of 205Nm at 2,000 rpm, even improved the overboost function.

OVERBOOST FuNCTIONthe overboost function is triggered on full load request in 2nd and 3rd gear. it delivers an additional 20nm of torque during acceleration for 20 seconds, reaching a maximum of 225Nm at 2,000 rpm.

PERFORMANCEthe 97kw turbo megane gt-Line will accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 9.7s and has a maximum speed of 200km/h. The pleasure of driving the new Turbo 97kW engine stems from its extreme responsiveness as 90% of its maximum torque is available from 1,500 rpm.

driving habits are changing – that is a fact. encouraged by the media, manufacturers and authorities, the concept of eco-driving is gaining ground every day. More relaxed, cleaner driving, lower fuel consumption and even less vehicle wear: the arguments in favour of eco-driving are plentiful. And the results speak for themselves: eco-driving produces average fuel savings of 5 to 10%! Fuel consumption is certified using a standard, regulated method. it is identical for all manufacturers and allows vehicles to be compared. Fuel consumption in actual usage depends on the vehicle's usage conditions, equipment and the driver's driving style. with driving eco2, fuel consumption and co2 emissions can be cut by 25% (depending on the driving conditions, driving style and motorist).

How can I learn to "eco-drive"?there are a number of eco-driving training courses, but it is easy to achieve results by following a few simple rules: start the car without 'heating' the engine needlessly; accelerate firmly at low speeds and shift quickly up to the next gear; anticipate well to avoid needless braking; turn off the ignition whenever you stop for more than a few seconds (which is what Stop & Start does); relieve the vehicle of any unnecessary heavy items; check the tyre pressure. Also, make sure you always drive dynamically and smoothly, with patience and a smile.
