• Cuba’s flag has a red triangle with a white star and five strips, two white and three blue. The three blue strips stand for the original three provinces.

• Cuba’s number one money maker has been tourism. Cuba exports about $2.1 billion a year.

Cuba’s history

Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean islands. Christopher Columbus found Cuba on October 27th in 1492 when he claimed it for Spain. Cuba is important to the history of Florida was a Spanish possession until 1762 when Florida was traded to Britain. Cuba was Spain’s first real foothold in the New World and was stepping stone to the Americans.
