Cuba severes ties with the US

US was at first open to the idea of Cuba as an ally, they thought Cuba was a Democratic state. upon realizing Cuba’s mistakes like political arrest and military tribunal, the US severed its ties with Cuba.

Severed Ties: Continued

The US was very willing to communicate with Cuba in the beginning but eventually stopped connection with Cuba due to their political ways. This is a huge turning point for history because Cuba was a huge possibility for development in both nations

Bay of Pigs continued

Due to the lack of manpower and aerial aid, the Homeland Cubans were able to drive out the US invaders, there were many casualties and it went down in the books as a huge loss for the US.

The Bay of Pigs disaster

April of 1961, President Kennedy gave the ‘go ahead’ to a group of US allied Cubans to infiltrate Cuba. Kennedy Let the team go, but refused to aid with air force.

Russian Missile Crisis

1962: Russians plan to plant a medium range missiles in Cuban territory. These missiles are in range of the US and are able to be fired at lethal levels. Russians believe this will be a very good opportunity to get the upper hand over the US.

Russian missile Crisis Continued

Once the US had caught word of the missile home front in Cuba, they gave orders to the army to intercept the Russian cargo ships moving to Cuba. This was an attempt to stir fear in Cuba, in order to yield them from taking the Russian Missiles.

Castro’s waning health

In 2008, Castro is in his 81st years of life. His health waning, body is aging, and is slowing down. He himself realizes this and gives a public announcement dealing with his retirement plan to the Cuban society

Castro’s retirement

In 2008 The president of Brazil and Castro met for a meeting. Castro was asked about his health and told the president that he was fine. Months later his health fell lower and he ended up retiring for good. 4

Bright times ahead

In february of 2008, the UN and Minister Felipe Perez, Roque signed the international covenant on Civil and Political rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural rights. This Document was the embodiment of jusctice in Cuba. Basically covering the rights of man, and freeing the people of Cuba.

In July of 2008 the Cuban government loosens its leash on private farming. This is in order to fill the economy with cash flow in order to keep Cuba’s financial head above water. In March of 2009 the UN opens trade between US and Cuba, this allows travel between countries and even economic transactions.

A leader that doesn’t suck

In april of 2011 the Cuban government elected a new leader of the country. Jose ramon machado, the new leader of Cuba was elected and ready to make change...for the better!

A leader that doesn’t suck: continued In the following year, Cuban government further loosens the leash on its people. Selling cars became a legal transaction for business owners. people could buy and sell automotive without worry, also the sale of real estate. This is a huge step in Cuban life.

The Pope’s in town!

March of 2012, the pope makes a long awaited visit to Cuba. This event is very important because it acts a a landmark in the development of Cuba in its new light.

The popes in Town! continued

Because the Pope visited Cuba, it shows that the Government is truly giving freedom of religion to their people. The Popes visit almost acted as a test for the Cuban government, to see how loyally they stand by their new rules.

Exit Visa requirements dropped!!

In october 16th 2012 the governments of Cuba announced that citizens will no longer need an exit Visa to leave the country. This action is a huge step for the country because it allows the people to travel as they please, without having to be tract like animals.

Exit Visa requirements dropped continued On january 13th of 2013, just last year, the Cuban government gave permission to its people to leave the country freely at will, and even live outside Cuba. This is a HUGE change for the better, people seem to be truly free now.

Cuba and the US are buds now

In addition to the changes in traveling rules, Cuba, on Dec 17th, 2013, freed a captured US citizen, who had been in custody for 15 years. This shows that there is no longer a hateful veil over the US in Cuba’s eyes.

Cuba and the US are buds now

As an act of kindness towards Cuba, President Obama announces that the US will start and resume its ties and trade with Cuba, including diplomatic relations. This is the first time since 1961 that the US and Cuba are finally coexisting without bad blood.
