the *anage*ent of White Sand Tours decided to change the ter*s and conditions of the contract

of the drivers #ithout their authori,ation. With this change the salaries of the drivers #ere

reduced by half and '0 drivers lost their obs. With the hungerstrike the '0 drivers obtainedtheir co*"ensation. /ts i*"ortant to re*e*ber that since this date #orkers in the services sector 

for tourists (Travel -gents and Tour 1"erators) have fought to obtain a re*uneration order. Fron

force e*"loyers to "rovide a co"y of the +isk -ssess*ents to the 4inistry of 7abour the

BSince the enact*ent of the 1ccu"ational Safety and 3ealth -ct (1S3-) in Se"te*ber 200? the

CTSP has consistently called on the govern*ent to a*end this la# urgently in order to oblige

e*"loyers to sub*it a co"y of all +isk -ssess*ents to the 4inistry of 7abour the #orkers and

their union Bsaid the t#o leaders of the trade union confederation %ane +agoo and +eea,

Chuttoo in their letter to the *inister.

*"loyees of 4auritours fro* 4auritius and +odrigues did not obtain their salaries and end of

year bonuses in $ece*ber 20:;. CTSP a""roached the 4inistry of labour #hich ensured that the

e*"loyer #ill have a ti*efra*e of : *onth to "ay the e*"loyees. Failing to do so the acting

4inister Soodhun stated that the o"erational licence #ould be cancelled and the *atter #ould be

 brought before the Cabinet.

The 4inister of finance announced a co*"ensation of +s :;0 #hich #as considered as derisory by e*"loyees and trade unions in 4auritius. CTSP *ilitated for a rise in the salary

co*"ensation for "oor "eo"le and thus the overn*ent agreed to increase the salary

co*"ensation fro* +s.:;0 to +s2;0 for "eo"le earning less than +s :0 000.
