Students and Working Guests will work first hand with researchers, technicians, rangers and public health professionals. As well as, work closely with world-renowned mountain gorilla expert, veterinarian and conservationist, Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka.

We have three integrated programs: wildlife conservation including wildlife health; species, habitat and environmental conservation, clean energy and sustainable agriculture; community health including infectious zoonotic disease prevention and control; water, sanitation and hygiene [WASH], family planning and reproductive health, and nutrition; alternative livelihoods including livestock health and production, microfinance, agribusiness and ecotourism. We also work with youth in schools and sports leagues.

As an invaluable component of the work we carry out, CTPH accepts a number of research and intern applicants individually and in groups. We welcome research project applications from Bachelors, Masters and PhD level students. CTPH has a field laboratory at the Gorilla Health and Community Conservation Centre, complete with microscopes, centrifuges, autoclaves, water baths, incubators and all the necessary laboratory glassware.

Conservation Through Public Health is a Ugandan-based NGO that promotes coexistence of people and wildlife through improving health and livelihoods.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park occurs within one of the poorest and most densely populated regions of Africa, yet is a critical conservation priority for its high level of endemism and biodiversity, including the critically endangered mountain gorilla. Due to their lifestyle, interactions between people and gorillas are frequent, leading to disease transmission, which can be fatal for the mountain gorillas.

Experience a unique opportunity to work with an award winning non-profit conservation organisation in a local cultural setting and help support our programs. This includes staying at Gorilla Conservation Camp, our eco friendly lodge with panoramic views of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
