Habito Wall Installation Screw recommendations We recommend that you use a #10 screw for attaching items to Habito. A #10 screw can support a load of up to 30 pounds per screw. Length: Select a screw length which is appropriate to what you are attaching. Ensure the screw is long enough to penetrate the back of the board by 3/8 in. Make sure the screw has thread over the full length within the board thickness as shown below. Attaching to the wall Using a screwdriver or mechanical screwdriver, do not over-tighten the screw as this will reduce the loading capability of the wall. If using a mechanical screwdriver, ensure the setting is not on hammer, and use a low torque setting. Tighten the screw until the screw head is flush with the fixture you are attaching to the wall. Screw should be driven into the wall at shoulder height or below. Select the right tools 1-5/8” #6 fine-thread screws Gun Specification: 4000rpm. 81 in-lb. of torque. This allows the required downward pressure to be applied. Score as you would for any drywall, applying sufficient pressure to cut through the paper liner. Position the board so the section to be removed is hanging over the pallet or trestle bench. Push down on the area to be snapped off. Attaching to the wall• Using a screwdriver or mechanical screwdriver, do not over-tighten the screw as this will reduce the loading capability of the wall. • If using a mechanical screwdriver, ensure the setting is not on hammer, and use a low torque setting.• Tighten the screw until the screw head is flush with the fixture you are attaching to the wall.• Screw should be driven into the wall at shoulder height or below.

Can I cut and router Habito easily? Extensive testing has shown that Habito can be cut by oscillating cutting tools, routers, keyhole saws, and reciprocating saws just like common drywall! While there may be some accelerated dulling of the blade inherent with the greater density of the board, there is no difference when using these tools with Habito. For best results, use a ½'' shank router bit.

Can Habito support loads that move (dynamic loads)? Habito can support dynamic loads such as curtains and full-motion TV brackets (that allow extension or movement) as long as the safe working load of the fixings is not exceeded.

How close together can I position screws into Habito? Screws can be positioned at six inches apart without the wall losing loading capability.

Can I re-attach items back into the same location? You can re-attach an item back into the same position on Habito and the load strength will be largely unaffected. Multiple re-attachments in the same screw position will result in a loss of loading strength.

Can I fix into Habito if the board is fixed using the dot and dab method? Yes, providing our attachment guidance is followed and the safe working load of the fixing is not exceeded.

How much load can be supported by Habito? The load you can support depends on how many screws you are using to attach your item to the wall. For a shelf bracket, they typically contain three screws. If an appropriate length #10 wood screw is used, then a shelf supported by two brackets can support up to 180 lbs. (6 screws x 30 lbs).

For a TV bracket the TV weight that can be supported will depend on the number and type of screws used. If the appropriate length #10 wood screws are used, then the TV bracket can support a TV of up to 120 lbs. with four screws, or up to 180 lbs. with 6 screws. A modern 40” TV weighs approx. 30 lbs.*
