• Student interaction outside of class
• Instructor’s ability to monitor/ participate without completely controlling the discussion
• Public forum where members from outside of the class could participate (i.e. more meaningful than discussions posted on a course management system like Blackboard where ONLY the class would see it.
• Available widgets (will discuss these in a moment)
• Ease of use for both instructors and students, even if they had no experience with blogs.
