SolutionPop-Up Produce Pantry
In one hour, we served 57 people fresh, local produce including:● oranges● apples● bok choy● zucchini● broccoli● herbs
along with bread, raw honey, and handmade soap--all donated by vendors from the Haggin Oaks Farmers Market to reduce food waste and increase the amount of healthy options available to students. Spoiled produce has been used to start the first composting program on campus.
We also plan to provide culinary demonstrations showing how to
use seasonal ingredients provided by the Pop-Up Produce Pantry.
Funding will be provided by the CSU Chancellor’s Office through the SB 85: Hunger Free Campus “Innovation Award” for our Farm-to-Pantry program
