• The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) is an organization of member states and territories representing public health epidemiologists. CSTE works to establish more effective relationships among state and other health agencies.

Fellowship Goals

Mission: To meet the nation’s need for applied epi workforce capacity at the state/local level through a national two year training program

Core Concepts

1. Create and train a core group of public health epidemiologists

2. Provide service to the sponsoring agency

Background

• Using a mentorship model and competency-based approach model similar to the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), fellows receive rigorous training and develop applied epidemiologic skills during a high quality on-the-job training experience in order to secure a long-term career at the local/state level

• Supported by funding from CDC and SAMHSA

• Marketing and recruiting supported by ASPPH and other partners

Project SHINE Fellowships Applied Public Health Informatics Fellowship (APHIF)

Trains recent graduates in the expanding field of applied public health informatics.

Health Systems Integration Program (HSIP)

Places public health professionals at state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) health departments to engage the community to facilitate the integration of public health and clinical health systems.

Informatics-Training in Place Program (I-TIPP)

Is an innovative-approach to bring relevant on-the-job training to appropriate level STLT staff to address informatics capacity needs of their health departments through competency-based training and development of a multi-disciplinary, collaborative learning environment.
