Pakistan Petroleum Exploration andProduction Companies Association

(PPEPCA) represent more than twentyfour major national and multi-national oil and gas

companies operating in the Pakistan. Each of the E&Pcompanies takes community service very seriously andeach year implements plans to alleviate hardship to thecommunity where they have operating acreages. PPEPCA

plays is very proactively role to propagate implementations of these socialwelfare activities.

PPEPCA is providing a forum to share their experiences and to collectivelyvoice on matters of common concerns and interest. In implementation oftheir projects. Each E&P company member of the CSR Committee works intandem with the local administration, notables and politicians of theconcession areas, identify suitable community development projects andexecute these projects with local participation. To ensure sustainability,synchronization of efforts all the E&P companies endeavour to implementthese projects with the assistance of their CSR group in coordination withrespective of local government departments and also involve major NGOs

who have expertise in these fields.

The Commitment of E&P Companies towards the uplift of the communitythey operate in is clearly manifested in the present issue of Corporate SocialResponsibility (CSR) Newsletter. Efforts to address immediate needs of thecommunity by providing clean drinking water and basic health facilities areindeed praise worthy but the primary focus has remained on long termsustainable uplift of the communities through provision of education to thechildren, skill development of the locals, training in sports for the studentsteachers and community and infrastructure development.

For these outstanding contributions I complement all those companies’whose projects have been reflected in this newsletter.

I would also commend the editorial board of the CSR committee for carvingout time from their heavy official work for compiling the present edition of theCSR Newsletter.

CSR remains an ever evolvingand continuous process at theheart of MPCL management thattries its best to accommodate thelocal needs on priority basis. In

order to ensure the element of continuity andsustainability in our social welfare programs,MPCL CSR philosophy is anchored intripartite approach of development; involvingthe community, local government and MPCLmanagement.

CSR at MPCL is not only confined toimplementing the projects to fulfill its statutoryobligations, it is rather an on-going processto develop long lasting relationship with thecommunity at large. MPCL’s CSRinterventions are more focused towards healthand education of the community living in ouroperation blocks. In 2014, we envisageprojects worth Rs. 111 million to mainly caterhealth and educational needs of thiscommunity.

HealthOver 5000 patients are given treatment by•MPCL medical staff every week at mother& child health care center Mirpur Mathelo,Maternity Home Dad Laghari and seven (7)

permanent/mobile dispensaries at Mari fieldDaharki.

Adopted local dispensary at Kamersar•(Karak Block) catering the needs of over300 patients.

Construction of new dispensary in Zarghun•Block (Distt Harnai) and a child care centerat Tehsil HQ hospital at Khanpur (DisttShikarpur) have been completed in June2014.

Field medical camps are being established•twice a week at Khost and Zarghun wheremedical facilities were hitherto non-existent.

A water supply scheme has been•completed at Karkan, Zarghun, Distt Harnai.

EducationA new primary school has been constructed•at one of the farthest villages of ZarghunGhar (Distt Harnai). The children of this areawere deprived of basic education due tolong distances involved. Over 150 childrenare expected to avail this facility.

MPCL has adopted schools at Kamersar•(Distt Mianwali) ,Zarghun Ghar (DisttHarnai) and Khost (Distt Harnai). Computerlaboratory has been established at MiddleSchool Khost. Furniture, books, stationery,uniforms etc are being provided to over500 students in these schools annually.

Additional construction/renovation has•been carried out in three (3) schools in

Balochistan, three (3) in Sindh and one (1)in Punjab. Additionally one Girl’s HighSchool at Islamabad has been completelyrenovated and equipped with state of theart computer lab.

Certificate of Recognition – PakistanCentre of Philanthropy (PCP)In addition to fueling national economythrough our dedicated E&P efforts acrossPakistan, we are committed to energize livesof our society through meaningful CSRinterventions. In 2014, In appreciation ofrelentless CSR efforts, MPCL received twoCertificates of Recognition from PakistanCentre of Philanthropy (PCP). The firstcertificate places MPCL at number 1 out of478 Public Limited Companies by volume ofdonations as percentage of Profit beforeTaxation (PBT). The second certificate placesMPCL at number 6 out of 478 Public LimitedCompanies by volume of donations. Bothrankings are based on PCP’s CorporatePhilanthropy Survey 2012.

OMV is amongst the largestinternational natural gasproducers in Pakistan in terms

of operated volumes. As the operator of theSawan, Miano, Latif, Tajjal, Rehmat, Saqib andMehar gas fields, as well as the Kadanwariprocessing facilities, OMV delivers around450 mnscf/d to the local market, and henceprovides around 10% of Pakistan’s total gassupply. Additionally OMV also produces 3300bbls/d of condensate.

As part of its Social invastment. OMV Pakistanis very conscious of its responsibilities for itssurrounding communities, stakeholder(s) andits outlined policies. In financial year 2013 -2014, with an annual budget of approx. 3.4

mn USD, OMV’s CSR program is focused onSkills To Succeed (covering the entirespectrum of company’s educationalinitiatives), Health, Livestock and WaterProjects. Besides, OMV Pakistan has alsolaunched a new project focusing on“Women’s Empowerment in pakistan(WEP)”,during the current year.

For OMV’s social program, gender equality isa cross cutting theme in all its programsinterventions. Through “WEP” project, OMVthrough different initiatives aims to uplift thesocio-economic also with in Companyconditions of female in its area of operations.Under this project OMV is supporting femalesin acquiring formal education from Elementarylevel up to professional degree with support ofdifferent implementing partners (The citize nsfoundation & Tehzeeb development

foundation. For this particular projectsubstantial funding is pooled in from AustrianDevelopment Cooperation (ADC), aninternational donor agency, along with OMVand its Joint Venture partners. The projectalso ensure’s creation of conducive andcongenial environment for women whereaccess to financial and to capital resourcesfosters economic growth and also results inimproved standards of living. For this initiative,contract is already signed with KashfFoundation for setting up two branches inOMV’s operational area. The main initiativesundertaken under the umbrella of the saidproject are Mentioned in table.

As OMV is a firm believer of gender equalityand to replicate the same concept at field level,two female trainees are also inducted as OMV’sfield locations during the current year. Byinduction of these female trainees, OMV hasbecome one of the leading E&P companies inPakistan, where females are also provided withan opportunity to work at field locations andgrow as thorough professionals.

OMV’s business and social investment programs aim for Resourcefulness, which is ourway of achieving growth while taking care of the environment, the resources and thecommunities we work with. In year 2013-14, all the available funds including the volunteerfunds that were not utilized from past years, were committed against different initiativeswith the aim of sustaining maximum CSR ongoing projects; foreseeing the upcomingproduction decline. OGDCL has embedded socialdevelopment as a priority alongwith core business. Thecompany under its CSR

program supported Pakistan Bait-ul-Malproject for orphan children namely the SweetHome Project, to contribute Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal’s cause and co-sponsored the carnival for“Sweet Angels”. Mr. Basharat A. Mirza,Executive Director (SBP/HR/Admn), Mr.Salman Amin, GM (CSR), OGDCL, and otherdistinguished guests graced the occasion heldon 22nd March 2014. Officials expressed atthe event that this initiative will support theoverall concept of protection, education andfuture growth of these children that will turnthem into responsible and capable citizens ofthe country.

HOLDING OF MEDICAL CAMP FORHEPATITIS “B” VACCINATION.The company held medical camp for Hepatitis“B” vaccination to the locals of the area ofKalchas Concession area in 2014. Duringcamp 1,000 patients treated through bloodscreening and vaccination. As this remotearea does not have good health facilities.

Therefore, this camp helped them on healthawareness and taking preventive measuresagainst the disease.

SEWING MACHINES As a commitment towards social uplift &economic empowerment of the women,OGDCL donated and distributed 348 sewingmachines to the women Tehsil Kabirwala,District Khanewal, At the occasion districtadministration and other notables of the areawere present at the distribution ceremony. Thesewing machines are expected in providingwomen with means to generate income andself-employment. Later, sewing machineswere also distributed in Khanewal, Kabirwala,Vehari among the deserving and needy inclose coordination with DistrictAdministration.

PROVISION OF EDUCATION FACILITIES(SINDH AND KHYBER PAKHTOONKHWAPROVINCES). OGDCL, under its CSR program hasconstructed class room, provided computersand printer at Government Higher Secondaryschool Chanda Khuram, Karak, Khyber

Pakhtoonkhwa (KPK). To encourage educationin remote areas, the company has providedPick and drop service to the local students ofBobi Oil Complex particularly female students.In addition to this funds were also beenprovided for the construction of class roomsand supply of furniture to Government schoolvillage Muhammad Yousaf Chachar, UnionCouncil Qadirpur, Tehsil and district Ghotki.

Punjab Youth Festival / CricketTournament.OGDCL support s initiatives that ensureengaging of youth in healthy and constructiveactivities. In this regards, OGDCL sponsoredan amount of Rs. 20 million for Punjab youthfestival, followed by, 1 million for sponsorshipof Cricket Tournament at Karak and 0.3 millionfor celebration of Hum Jawan in Kohat. Thefunds were provided to envision youth’s brightfuture & give them opportunity to reflect theirtalent and energy.

IDP’s North Waziristan Agency.OGDCL has proactively extended support forthe IDPs of North Waziristan and generouslycontributed an amount of Rs. 80 million forthe Prime Minister Relief Fund for assistancein July 2014. Moreover Rs. 1 million has alsobeen provided to district Local Government ofdistrict Karak for the same purpose. OGDCLemployees highly value the sacrifices ofdisplaced families therefore, in addition toabove Rs. 81 million contributions, OGDCLemployees have also generously contributedRs. 14.7 million from their salaries as acommitment towards National Cause andsupport to their brothers and sisters in need.

UEP has invested in upliftingeducation in its concession areas.The company is especiallycommitted to enhancing female

literacy. As part of this commitment, UEP hasprovided financial assistance to theGovernment Girls Degree College inShahdadpur, Sanghar on multiple occasions.

In 2009, when this college was established,UEP donated about Rs. 560,000 which wasused to procure furniture, fixtures and an

electric water cooler. The following year, in2010, the company donated Rs. 1.5 millionfor constructing the main gate of the collegeand procuring laboratory equipment,computers, printers and furniture. There had been a large increase in enrolmentat the college, since its inception, as a resultof which classes were being conducted incorridors and even in a tent on the roof.Hence, in 2012, UEP donated about Rs. 2million, from the Presidents‘DiscretionaryFund, for building more classrooms and a

Science Laboratory enabling the college’sadministration to make room for the growingnumber of students. In 2013, UEP contributedan additional Rs. 2 million for upgrading thefirst floor of the college, the ‘UEP block’,which had been funded by the companyprevious year. The total amount donated byUEP to, since the college’s inception in 2009,stands at about Rs. 6 million.

The Government Girls Degree CollegeShahdadpur is the only girls’ college in thearea. Before it was established it was difficultfor girls from the area to pursue highereducation. To attend college they would have totravel to Hyderabad which is not only expensivebut also difficult due to cultural constraints.Since this college was established itsperformance has been remarkable andenrolment has increased a steady pace –currently over 900 girls study at the college.UEP has also undertaken other projects to

enhance women’s access to educationalfacilities. The Degree College for Women atMatli has been built by UEP. More than 4,000girls have graduated from the college so far,with many taking up professions likeengineering, medicine and teaching. The only

two higher secondary girls' schools in theentire district of Badin have been built by thecompany. UEP is also constructing sixschools, in collaboration with The Citizen’sFoundation (TCF) in its concessions areas –two of these schools are already operational.

Since educated mothers can better the lives ofnot only their families but also the widercommunities, UEP is committed to playing itspart in enhancing women’s access toeducational facilities.

The real challenge of theCompany's social welfare is notto deliver goods and servicesfrom the corporate to the

community though donations. But to changethe most fundamental way of relating to eachother as human beings and sincerely contributefor development and welfare of the area in aplanned, tangible and sustainable manner.Therefore, CSR is not a short-term practice butenvisaged as a long term process in whichdevelopment initiatives are gradually unfolded

for the betterment of the society.

The Company's CSR activities are driven byour desire to positively touch the lives of ourcommunities. PPL's main priority forundertaking CSR initiatives is our productionand exploration areas which are heavilyconcentrated in Sindh and Balochistan. It isdue to reason that most of our CSR initiativeshave been carried-out in Balochistan andSindh. To ensure sustainability of our CSRschemes, PPL has kept special emphasis onregular assessments and monitoring to helpresolve problems and improve performance.During the year, various initiatives wereundertaken and completed under the socialwelfare obligation for the benefit of population.In order to improve educational facilities PPL

constructed and furnished multi-purpose hallat Govt. Girls Junior Model High School,Bahawalpur at Bahawalpur East block. AComputer Laboratory was also established atGovt. Girls Degree College, Khuzdar.Whereas, school building for Govt. GirlsPrimary School, Sunjer Khan Junejo, DistrictSanghar was constructed under socialwelfare scheme Hala block. Besides,

FREE DISPENSARY SETUP AT PINDORIAnother significant effort is setting up of freedispensary at Pindori for treatment ofdeserving patients / locals of the area. At aninitial setup cost of Rs 2.5 million appx thisdispensary is the only available medicalassistance of its type to the people of this area.

This dispensary has been started as the visionof Chairman & Chief Executive POL to providePrimary Health Care to the people of the areaespecially destitute and downtrodden. Thisdispensary provides free primary health care,including consultation, basic blood tests andmedicines.

FREE EYE CAMP AT KHAUR Pakistan Oilfields Limited in collaborationwith Alshifa Eye Hospital Rawalpindiorganized a one day Free Eye Camp for poorpatient at village Khaur of district Attock

Since 1992 till 2014. Three specialistdoctors along with paramedic staff examined25000 patients up till now.

The locals applauded POL for organizing thiscamp to serve the noble cause and assuredtheir cooperation in the days to come.

POL as per its policy to work for the benefit anduplift of local communities keeps establishingsuch camps in its areas of operation.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP AT KHAUR Blood Donation Camp coordination with(Thalassaemia Treatment Centre DivisionBlood Transfusion Service) Holy FamilyHospital, Rawalpindi was recently arrangedfor Thalassaemia patients at Khaur. A largePublicity was done for this aspect, also themanaging committee motivated people todonate blood.

Under the healthcare projects, PPL providedemergency, gynae, peads & surgicalequipments and instruments to Tehsil

Headquarter Hospital, Karor Lalessan, DistrictLayyah Dera Ismail Khan Block. PPL providedambulance to Government Dispensary,Budhapur, District Jamshoro under socialwelfare obligation of Kotri North block.

Under the Public Welfare projects PPLconstructed Public Library cum ComputerCentre at Tando Allahyar town, District

Tando Allahyar under social welfareobligation of Tajpur block. Under the WaterSupply Scheme 50 deep hand pumpsinstalled at UC Jhimpir and UC Jungshahi ofDistrict Thatta under social welfareobligation of Jungshahi block. Constructedwater supply scheme to Fateh town, DistrictDera Ismail Khan under social welfareobligation of Dera Ismail Khan block.

MOL Pakistan, member of MOLGroup is into fifteenth year of itspresence in Pakistan & as asocially responsible corporate

of Pakistan has always paid special emphasisto the welfare of the area where it operates.MOL Pakistan since its inception in 1999strives to undertake projects which are agreed& owned by the locals from the area of itsoperation.

MOL Pakistan ScholarshipProgram (2012 ~ 2014)The Intermediate & Technical ScholarshipProgram of MOL Pakistan remained inProgress during the year 2013 - 14. ThirtyThree (33) students of Intermediate, Diplomaof Associate Engineers (DAE), Bachelor ofEngineering (BE) & Bachelor of Geology (BS)were being supported for two years. Theexisting scholarship scheme (2012 ~ 2014)will complete in September 2014. Since startof Program, a total of 156 Scholarships havebeen awarded to scholars from three Districtsof Tal Block.

Drinking Water Supply Scheme atBakha Banda (District Karak)Drinking water availability is the mainproblem in District Karak in general andoperational area of Tal Block in particular.Taking cognizance of the fact MOL Pakistanwith support from local communityprioritized a water supply scheme in 2013and work started in 2014. Work on thescheme is in progress and will be completedin 2014.

Signing of MoU with AgriculturalDepartment- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.MOL Pakistan signed an agreement withAgricultural Department of KhyberPakhtunkhwa. According to Agreement MOLPakistan will provide reasonably availablesupport to communities in its operationalareas in the province to extend thetechnologies mainly in soil and waterconservation, small water shedmanagement, construction of reservoirs forrain/ surface water harvesting for irrigationpurposes and construction of spurs, checkdams etc in Kohat and Hazara Division.

Extension of Minor -1 from SandaFeteh Khan Dam (Irrigation project) inLachi, District Kohat.In response to a request from localcommunity of Hoti Banda, District Kohat,cost estimate for lining of water course forirrigation purpose from Sanda Fateh KhanDam was prepared and is being implementedthrough Water Management DepartmentKohat. At completion the project will helpconserve water and irrigate moreland in future.

Sports Activities in Tal Block in 2014:The importance of sports is beingrecognised by MOL Pakistan and has made ita permanent feature of its CSR Policy. Duringthe first six months of the year followingevents were sponsored by MOL Pakistan.

Sponsorship of T-20 Cricket Tournament•in collaboration with OGDL and DistrictAdministration.

Lachi Foot Ball Festival Kohat. The•tournament started over KhyberPakhtunkhwa participated in the event. Mr.Sheharyar Afridi, Member NationalAssembly Kohat was the chief guest onthe occasion of final match which wasplayed between Sabir Shaheen Club(Tank) & Hangu Union (Hangu). Thewinner team Sabir Shaheen Club (Tank)beat Hangu Union( Hangu) by (3-1)
