CSR

Corporate citizenship and social responsibility are values firmly held in Petron Corporation, the Philippines’ largest oil refining and marketing company. This is highlighted in the company’s corporate mission: caring for the community and the environment and further captured in one of the company’s strategic thrusts, which is to “enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR).”

PETRON FOUNDATION, INC. (PFI), which implements programs to secure the future of the Filipino children and fuel their hopes through corporate social responsibility endeavors in the areas of education, environment, health & human services and advocacy. Through the PFI, Petron

Corporation brings corporate social responsibility into the mainstream of its operations by integrating the social and environmental agendas into its business goals.

Sharing the Gift

of EDUCATION

Tulong Aral ng Petron. Petron’s biggest social investment is Tulong Aral ng Petron, a long-term program undertaken by Petron Foundation that hopes to secure a better future for our country’s less privileged children by giving children the chance to get into school, keeping them there, keeping them well, and making sure that they learn.

It quite literally fuels H.O.P.E.: Helping Filipino children and youth Overcome Poverty through Education.

Nurturing

NATURE

Petron’s sustained involvement in environmental campaigns is anchored on the Bataan Integrated Coastal Management Program, a comprehensive and long-term program to manage the coastal and marine resources of the province. It aims to promote sustainable development in the province, calling for the effective resolution of conflicts arising from the multiple uses of coastal and marine resources through an interactive, multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary approach to develop and implement a strategic environmental management plan.

Caring for the COMMUNITY

Petron Foundation looks to providing assistance to indigent communities with programs to address basic health and human services. These include the Lakbayanihan medical missions and disaster management and relief operations. There is also continued support to Lakbay Alalay, the 19-year, Marketing-led motorist assistance project that has become a tradition for people trekking to the provinces during the Lenten break.

Engaging our EMPLOYEES

At the heart of Petron’s success in its CSR endeavors is the active involvement of Petron employees. As much as 80% of the company’s workforce has contributed their time, talent, or treasure in almost every CSR activity.

Doing good and

telling it WELLBeyond doing its share for

the community, Petron believes in the need to encourage more champions for corporate social responsibility from within and outside the company. Advocacy plays a big part in efforts to make CSR an intrinsic part of the business operation.

This includes a continued commitment to uplift the practice of CSR in the country by the sponsorship of and active involvement in the annual celebration of the Corporate Social Responsibility Week, organized by the League of Coprorate Foundations.

Reaping the REWARDS of corporate citizenship

The Anvil and Gold Quill awards were in recognition of outstanding public relations efforts to advocate and sustain Petron’s programs to as many of our publics as possible.  These acknowledgments validate the company’s work as good corporate citizens and consequently its leadership role in social responsibility.
