About Local Energy

The LGiU is a charity which has been working with the public sector for the past 25 years.

Local Energy is a social enterprise established by the LGIU in 2010 to manage the growing

volume of work in the areas of carbon reduction, climate change and renewable energy. Allsurpluses directly subsidise the LGiUs charitable work.

Our Track Record

The LGiU/Local Energy have been involved in carbon saving since our pilot network in 2008.

For the first three years the focus was the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. With the landmark

Green Deal due to launch in October 2012, the 2012 Carbon Saving Public Sector network

will prepare Local Authorities for this vital energy efficiency initiative, whilst continuing to

offer support on the CRC and the other initiatives that we have considerable expertise in.

Our partnership with the Energy Saving Trust means our members will also be able toreceive support in:

y  Profiling property stock

y  Housing stock refurbishment

y  Tariff scheme support

y  Economic modelling

y  Green finance

y  Performance assessment

y  Local Authority carbon assessment

y  Examining the energy network

Carbon Saving Public Sector 2012

Membership of the network will prepare your authority step-by-step for the October 2012

launch of Green Deal. In addition, the CSPS network will help you to join up Green Deal with

other low carbon initiatives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive, Feed in Tariffs and the

CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme. The network provides:

-  Two delegate places at regional events. Events will be in February, June and

September and supported by members of Local Energy, the Energy Saving Trust and

other organisations such as DECC.

y  Feedback on the consultation process from DECC.
