CSPS Baseline Data and ‘On Track’ Benchmarks for Student Achievement
When determining a student’s overall growth and achievement during the course of a Semester we
utilise data from a number of sources to provide feedback both on a student’s performance at
National Standard but also their growth during this period of time.
In CSPS Baseline Data Collection the following sources of data are collected and utilised in
supporting judgements on student growth and identifying students who are below expected
standard, on track and above expected standard.
(Example taken from CSPS Assessment and Reporting Handbook, Sem 1 2017)
The following tables provide a guide to some sources of information that teachers could consult
when determining the progress made by a student and the growth within English, during the period
of a Semester. This should also be aligned with the classification of evidence which can be used to
make a judgement in the ELFs@ CSPS policy.

PM Mean 2016
PM and OWL means developed
during ‘Preparing class Groups’
sessions in term 4 and applied to all
benchmarks throughout data
toolkit. In 2016, these means are
the product of all data from 2013,
2014 and 2015 sets included to
generate an established school
mean based on longitudinal data.
Benchmarks should be provided
alongside PLPs when developing
targets for students in term 1.
ACER PAT Maths Assessment
Please see the information (pages following) on the interpretation and use of scores arising from
PAT Maths assessment. The assessments are used across the school form Years 1-6 and
administered online with results generated through assessments undertaken in both Semester 1 and
2.
