New Look And Feel – Integrated Language Editor

Cscape 10 has a Language Editor Grid to edit the different languages that would be used in the project. No longer is the user required to export the language information to Excel and then re-import it. The figure below shows a sample of this editor.

New Logic Functions - Do I/O Function

Causes I/O Updates to occur mid PLC Scan

New Logic Functions - Increased Compact Flash Functionality

In order to implement chart recorders on the OCS the modes of reading data from an installed Compact Flash card will be augmented.

New Function Blocks will be added to return –

The number of rows in a file on the removable media memory

A data array filled from a column on the removable media memory

These feature along with Graph data objects allow historic data to be displayed as trends from data logged using the datalogging function in the Ocs

New Logic Functions – Function Generator

Through customer and distributor questions it has become evident that a function block that would allow simple profiles to be generated would open more market opportunities for the OCS product line in industries that have mainly been the domain of dedicated controllers.Typical applications for this block would include stepper/servo positional control, linearisation and simple waveform generation

New Logic Functions - Remove %R Restrictions

Horner APG

Previous versions of Cscape had limitations on which functions could be used with %R registers above 2048 – The original maximum register in early OCS systems.

Slowly but surely we’re converting function blocks to remove this limitation

New Logic Functions – Drum Sequencer

A simplified version of the Function generator function. This functionality would be based on the Allen Bradley Drum

Sequencer.

New Logic Functions – Variable Length Block Move and Shift/Rotate

Block Move and Shift/Rotate functions currently work on Constant size of Blocks Of Data. This will be changed to allow run time selection of block size.

New Graphics Features - Display JPeg From Removable Media

Horner APG

Jpegs (Possibly captured for the Ocs Video Input card) stored on removable media cards, can be displayed on the Screen of an Ocs with suitable display technology

New Graphics Features – Project Porting Improvements

Currently there is little support in terms of graphics for taking an OCS program and converting it to run on a different OCS type.

Cscape 10 will provide intelligent resizing of the graphics in a system to assist in this.

New Graphics Features – Scroll Bars On Graphics Editor

Currently when editing screens which are of greater resolution than the one on which Cscape is being run the editing must occur at a less than

100% zoom level – this can lead to loss of information on the configuration system. Adding scroll bars will circumvent this problem

New Graphics Features – X/YPlot is True X/YPlot (Scatter chart)

At the moment only the Y co-ordinate a graph is defined by the table of data used to produce the plot – i.e. the data to produce the graph will be an array of values producing a plot of

evenly spaced points.

True X/Y operation defines each point in terms of both and x and y co-ordinates.

New PLC Features - I/O, Timer and Watchdog Interrupts

Organisation Blocks in the OCS can be created which will run immediately (mid scan) on I/O status changes or timers elapsing.

In addition a watchdog block can be created which will run at the end of a scan, if the time taken to execute that scan exceeds.

New PLC Features - Alarm Logging/Trending to Compact Flash

Currently historic Alarm and Trend information is stored in battery backed RAM. Provision will be made to allow the storage to occur into removable media cards in models supporting them. This yields two big advantages –

1) Data Storage capacity is far increased

2) The data from the card can be moved to a centralised PC location using FTP, FXP or manual removal/insertion

New Workbench Features - Simulation

It will be possible to run Cscape Projects within the Cscape environment for testing purposes.

An editor will available to force I/O States, and the PLC engine being developed for use in the Envision product line will be used to update the states.

New Workbench Features – Localisation And Installation Improvements

Releases of Cscape will in the future be rolled out in multiple languages at the same time. Software, help files and our web site will be available in multiple languages.

Installation is to be tidied up using a much improved user interface.

New Workbench Features – More Import-Export/Cut And Paste/Drag And Drop Functionality

There will be far greater support for moving sections of Cscape projects from one to another with far greater use of drag and drop, cut and paste and import/export

of sections of the project

New Workbench Features – Web Based Software and Firmware Updates

Cscape will be configurable to dynamically obtain Bug Fixes, new features and upgrades from the web.

Page 25: Cscape 10 Horner APG. New Look And Feel – Editor Integration

New Workbench Features – Tag Database Improvements

At the moment Cscape Ladder is based around register definitions and names may be given to those tags.In IEC languages the emphasis is on tags and register definitions may be given – This requires the fixing of register positions of IEC variables where they are required for use in GREdit or Protocol configuration.

Page 26: Cscape 10 Horner APG. New Look And Feel – Editor Integration

New Workbench Features – Improvements To Find Functionality

At the moment there are many ‘hidden’ registers in Cscape which are allocated but do not show up in ‘Where used’ Examples would be allocated strings, protocol registers.

Improvements will be made to rectify this
