Introduction to the CSBM needs assessment tool This needs assessment has been developed to enable participants of the Certificate of School Business Management to ascertain their high level learning journey for each of the operational modules within the programme. It will provide you with: − guidance on how to tackle the learning activities within each module − an understanding of whether it would be appropriate for you to attend the supporting

workshop for each module − an indication of whether it is suitable for you to consider a fast track route through to

assessment for any of the operational modules The needs assessment consists of responding to statements which best reflect your current level of experience and skills. In order for you benefit fully from the programme it is therefore important that you answer as honestly as possible

How it works

On the following pages you will see a set of statements for each operational module. This is an interactive PDF document within which you can choose the option (Level 1, 2 or 3) which best fits your level of experience and competence in each area. Once you have completed each you will be provided with your total score and some feedback which will take into account the levels you have selected. By undertaking this assessment as part of an interactive PDF, you are able to save, print and edit your options and results as many times as you like.

Next steps

Once you have completed your needs assessment, please ensure you save this document as you will need to send your results, via email, to your programme tutor. Your programme tutor will then discuss with you what your learning journey should consist of and how you will interact with each of the modules. If you have not yet been allocated a programme tutor, your training provider will be in touch with you about this shortly. Once you begin to study each of your modules, there will be a more detailed diagnostic which will help you to identify those units which you will need to study fully and those which you may be able to skim. This will provide you with a more focused approach to undertaking the activities within the units, including identifying particular topics that you may want to pay more attention to.
