EASTWOODHILL CARE HOME, GLASGOWProvides residential care and support for 34 older people

l Give thanks for all the St. Ninian’s school pupils who do placements at Eastwoodhill hoping to gain valuable life experience during their time with us.

l Pray that the residents at Eastwoodhill would feel safe, secure and loved in their surroundings.

l Give thanks for all the staff who work at Eastwoodhill as they continue to support the needs of our residents and hopefully enhance their quality of life. Pray that staff might feel valued in the important work they do.

l Remember the families and friends of our residents as they adjust to each new chapter in their families’ lives.

l Give thanks for the Friends’ Group of Eastwoodhill for their hard work and enthusiasm and input with residents and staff.

l Give thanks for all the relatives who help and support our fundraising events. We ask a blessing on them.

l Pray for the community service workers who do a marvellous job in and around the grounds at Eastwoodhill as their work is greatly appreciated by everyone who walks in the garden.

DICK STEWART SERVICE, GLASGOWProvides a structured supported and supervised environment within which service users referred from the criminal justice social work teams can acquire independent living skills as appropriate to their individual needs

l Pray for all service users that use our service that they find a loving and caring environment in order for them to build up trust so they can receive the support they need.

l Pray for all families of all who use the service and for all staffs families that they may find comfort for all that troubles them.

l Pray for all staff that deliver a service, that they do this with all the qualities of Jesus Christ.

l Pray that the commissioning team would be aware of how necessary the service is for the people that use it.

l Pray for all service users that move onto their own accommodation that they continue to build up their lives.

GLASGOW SUPPORTED LIVING SERVICESGSLS works in partnership with Glasgow City Council Social Work Services and local Housing Associations to provide 24-hour support for older people in the East End of Glasgow in their own homes

l Pray that God would continue to bless our staff and service users at Glasgow Supported Living Service. May they know his grace, peace and love as they go about their daily tasks.

l Give thanks for the opportunity to work in your name and provide a service to older adults in Glasgow, living in the comfort of their own homes.

l Pray for comfort and joy today for those of our service users who are feeling low, sick or unwell, or just feeling out of sorts. Pray that they would be held in the safety of God’s healing hands.

l Hear our prayers of thanks as we sit together as a staff team worshipping daily, remembering our staff, service users and carers.

l Remember our partners in care, our social workers, doctors, nurses and pharmacists who together help us to provide the range of services at Glasgow Supported Living.

l Pray for CrossReach staff as they minister to the needy, poor and marginalised of society, We especially pray for our older adults at Glasgow Supported Living Service and ask that God would extend his blessings upon them.

THE BUNGALOW, STONEHAVENThe Bungalow is a residential care home in Stonehaven for 5 adults with multiple physical and mental health needs

l Pray for a speedy recovery for those in our team that have had operations, and those feeling unwell and run down. Ask God to bless those working here and the residents with good health.

l Pray for the new staff at The Bungalow, the new management structure and new people starting. Pray for peace and productivity at this time, and that the new and original staff would get on well together.

l Pray for the fundraising projects we have planned, that they would go smoothly and we are able to reach our target.

l Give thanks for all we have here at The Bungalow - the building, the garden, the community and the volunteers.

l Pray for our residents that we will be able to give them full and active lives and that they will be truly happy and at peace and experience God’s love.

l Remember our administrator Emily who moves this month to Edinburgh to get married. Pray that her family will settle into their new jobs, schools, and married life.

l Thank God for the seasons in nature, as well as in life, and as we look towards spring, we would keep in mind the full and abundant life available to us through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

HEART FOR ARTA Scotland wide project based on creative, visual arts, offering an opportunity for people with dementia, their carers and families to build supportive relationships and access support and advice on dementia

l Pray that God’s grace would be poured upon all those affected by dementia and that he would bless them with patience, a loving and supporting family and days of hope and accomplishment.

l Give thanks for all ‘Artful Friends’ - the volunteers who give their time willingly to Heart for Art. Encourage their enthusiasm and give them energy to inspire the participants in the project.

l Pray for the unique talents of the Heart for Art participants. Help them share with others the gift of art which they enjoy. Help to develop their varied abilities and skills, reflecting the unique personality God has given them.

l Remember all who work as healthcare professionals in everyday care and research into the causes of dementia and its many forms. Give them understanding and patience to deal with challenging situations and help nurture their love through creative art.

l Pray for people facing health challenges in life. Grant them the energy and determination, courage, peace and serenity to rest and restore their bodies, mind and spirit.

l Pray for the further success of the project. We ask that the character and talents that God has installed in people would mature and grow together.

ALLARTON, GLASGOWAllarton is a specialist mental heath care home which provides 24 hour care, supporting 12 adults who have been classed as ‘high need’

l As we look forward to the 25th anniversary of Allarton in June 2015 we ask for God’s blessing on all our service users.

l Remember everyone who experiences the darkness of depression and the chaos of psychosis; bless their minds and emotional health with stillness and quiet that they might find relief in God’s comfort and peace.

l Pray that we would have open and loving hearts that our actions and integrity are transparent and reflect your Holy Spirit.

l Pray for wisdom in decision making which impacts on the lives of others around us.

l Give thanks for all the professionals who support the Allarton service users - community Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Officers and Psychiatrists.

l Through fellowship and true partnership, pray that staff would continue to work towards improvements in recovery outcomes for those we care for.

l Pray for strength and aspiration throughout 2015 to face the challenges in the field of mental health working.

MORLICH HOUSE, EDINBURGHMorlich House in the Morningside area of Edinburgh is a care home for 23 older ladies.

l Give thanks for the dedication of the staff team, as they continue to support the service users with the individual care they require.

l Pray for any service users who may be new to the service, as they adjust to their new home and the changes this brings.

l Pray for the staff team as they continue with their learning and development, so they are given the knowledge they need.

l Pray for the friends and families of the service users, that they may be comforted during difficult times.

l Give thanks for our Friends’ Group as they continue to support us in our work.

l Pray for strength and understanding when we face difficult times and times of change within the organisation.

l Give thanks for the blessings that caring for the service users brings to us all.

AXIS FORWARD PROJECT, DUNDEEWe are a small team of three who support adults to leave alcohol and substance misuse behind.

l Pray for wisdom for us as we work all around Dundee in the sometimes very chaotic lives of people with addictions.

l Pray for patience and emotional resilience for us to consistently give our best, especially in the face of disappointments.

l Pray for us to walk in grace and humility in complex and demanding situations.

l Give thanks to God with us for the successful launch of the new Revive and Restore Café which is run by volunteers who are in recovery.

l Pray for God’s blessing our volunteers, who give of their time freely, and work so very hard.

l Pray for our team - Nan our manager, and Eddie and Linda our support and project workers.

l Pray for good and fruitful relationships with other CrossReach services.

OVERSTEPS, DORNOCHOversteps is a care home with places for 24 older people

l Pray for our residents and staff. Pray that there would be peace and unity at Oversteps.

l Give thanks for the dedication of the staff team who seek to serve ‘in Christ’s name’.

l Give thanks for God’s unconditional love and grace. Pray that staff would support residents to have the highest quality of life possible – whatever their personal circumstances.

l Pray that staff would seek God’s guidance in all the decisions they have to make, placing their trust in him.

l Remember residents who are unwell at this time. Pray that staff will be there to support both the residents and their families during this time of illness.

l Give thanks for the Friends’ Group; for their dedication and willingness to give of their time and skills.

l Pray for the Service Manager Tina Taylor as she leads the staff team at Oversteps.

ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH, ARBROATHCrossReach Local – focusing on the social care work of churches across Scotland

l Pray for Tracey and Karen and the volunteers who run the Havilah Project in Arbroath. May God strengthen them day by day as they reach out to the lost and lonely, as they bring love to the loveless and the life of Christ to the broken.

l Pray for the team from St. Andrew’s Church which works with the foreign students at Angus College - befriending, offering welcome and hospitality and help with conversational English.

l Pray for the volunteer staff and the young women who attend the Mum ‘n’ Me Programme with their children. Many are very vulnerable and beset by seemingly insurmountable problems - with substance misuse, money, relationships, or authority. Pray that through this invaluable project, something of Easter hope may be communicated.

l Give thanks for the volunteers who have been running the Emergency Food Parcel Project so faithfully for nearly ten years. As they seek to serve those whose needs are great, may something of Jesus be in their conversations such that dignity and respect would be ensured.

l Pray for the digital literacy group that operates under the Havilah Project that those who attend might find themselves growing in confidence and becoming more able to navigate the internet - and that their employment prospects might be enhanced.

QUEEN’S BAY LODGE, EDINBURGHQueen’s Bay provides care for 28 older adults

l Pray that staff would continue to deliver exceptional care and that CrossReach would continue to offer fantastic training to provide staff with the knowledge and skills to carry out their jobs.

l Give thanks for the many blessings we have in Queens Bay Lodge and for the companionship of fellow residents and staff; for our families and friends who visit us; for the care and support we receive.

l I just want to thank God for all the work the staff do here which I really appreciate. I could not wish for anything better and feel this is my home and staff make me feel so welcomed. I want to pray for lots of happiness to them for all the hard work. (Barbara Williams, Service User)

l I pray for a sponsor to help with the minibus appeal. And thank God for the co-ordinator and all the staff who are wonderful to all of us here.(Mary Carrie, Service User)

CROSSREACH COUNSELLING: MORAYBased in Buckie and offers a free counselling service to those in need in our area, and in Inverness. Our centre has been operating in Buckie for over 8 years. We have 10 volunteer counsellors in Buckie and 5 in Inverness.

l Pray for our team of counsellors and the clients they work with. Pray that lives may be changed and made whole through their experience at CrossReach.

l Give thanks for the group of ladies who recently organised a coffee morning to raise funds for our service which was well supported.

l Pray for the Inverness branch of our counselling service. Give thanks for their dedication and organisation over the past year in the absence of their team leader. Pray for a continued blessing on all the work they do.

l Pray for one of our team who has left us after 8 years to spend quality time with her family. Give thanks for her years of faithful service and pray a continued blessing on her.

l Pray for the funding needed to run this service. Pray that hearts would be touched to see the need and give.

l Pray for clients still to come, for individuals whose lives are burdened with issues, that they may find the courage to access this service. Pray for continued referrals from GPs and other agencies.

l Pray that this centre would continue to be ‘a haven of peace’ for troubled souls.

Week beginning Sunday 26th April Week beginning Sunday 3rd May

SOUTH BEACH HOUSE, ARDROSSANSouth Beach is a residential home for up to 40 older people.

l Give thanks for our great Friends’ Group and the work they do all year round for the home which is for the overall benefit of the residents and everyone connected to us.

l Pray for the residents and help them enjoy the shared company within the home and ask for them to benefit from the planned events put on for them.

l Pray for all the families of loved ones within the service especially relatives that find it hard to visit. Give them the strength they need.

l Remember the senior staff team of South Beach House and be with them as they do the work in Christ’s name all year round in good times and in bad.

l Pray that God would be with the whole staff group of the home as they are a very committed team and work hard all year round to give the highest quality of care to the residents.

l Give thanks for the good food we get provided for the home each day of the year for all our residents. Give the staff the extra wisdom they require to help the residents who have poor dietary intake.

l Pray for the South Beach building and for any repairs or work that have to be carried out to keep it in full operation and keep the good work that happens within the home functioning normally.

THRESHOLD EDINBURGHThreshold Edinburgh provided housing and day care support to 20 adults with learning difficulties.

l Give thanks for all the staff who work with us and for their hard work and dedication. Pray that they will continue to strive towards excellence as they serve Christ in supporting our service users.

l Pray for the Senior Team as they juggle many responsibilities; that they would have wisdom to know how to prioritise and new energy and inspiration to fulfil their role with the many demands placed upon them. Pray for unity within the team.

l Give thanks for the service users and the positive changes in their lives as they are supported to reach their potential. Pray that they would continue to find grow and develop in their gifts.

l Pray for our service users that they would keep well and safe. Pray for those who have various health issues to contend with that they would be addressed speedily and professionally by the health care teams.

l Pray that each service user would feel loved and valued as we support them at this time.

l Give thanks for the wider CrossReach team of which we are a part; Ronnie Black, the Head of Service and the staff at Charis House who support us in many ways.

OASIS BANKFOOT AND THE TRYST, PITLOCHRYAt the Church Centre at Bankfoot we have facilities to provide Day Care for up to 10 adults from Monday to Friday, working in partnership with our existing Day Care service within The Tryst, Pitlochry

l Give thanks for all the volunteer drivers and escorts who give of their time with a smile and Christian love.

l Give thanks for the ladies who volunteer to come to the Tryst and help with the activities which enhance the day for our clients.

l Pray for all our clients and their families and carers; may we always give them our love and support in Christ’s name at all times.

l Give thanks for the support we get from mental health team at Pitlochry, and Perth and Kinross Council in supporting us with those clients who need that extra help.

l We have so much to be thankful for at the Day Care at Bankfoot, especially for the support from Adrian the Minister and the church as a body of Christ.

l Give thanks for the loving and caring staff at both Oasis Bankfoot and The Tryst who are dedicated in the care of the clients.

l Give thanks for the opportunity to support many older people in the community and to show the love of Christ in all we do.

SOCIAL CARE COUNCIL (CROSSREACH)The Church of Scotland Social Care Council (CrossReach) has 31 members drawn from across Scotland with diverse experience and backgrounds and an interest in social care

l Remember the new Moderator Rt. Rev. Angus Morrison as he chairs the General Assembly this week. Pray that God would give him wisdom and patience in this important role in the life of the Church of Scotland.

l Pray that God will bless the ministers and elders at the General Assembly as they gather to work through the items on the agenda that they have before them.

l Give thanks for the Heart and Soul event held in Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh; for the church Councils (including CrossReach) that are spotlighting their work and for the congregations from around Scotland who are showcasing the life and work of their church.

l Pray for the Convener of the Social Care Council (CrossReach) Dr. Sally Bonnar as she delivers the Council’s report to the General Assembly. Pray that the commissioners would listen carefully and agree the deliverance.

l Remember CrossReach’s lunchtime Fringe Event which highlights some of the caring work being done across Scotland and pray that a good number of commissioners would come along.

l Pray for the 31 members of the Social Care Council as they seek to guide the work of CrossReach in Christ’s name.

Week beginning Sunday 24th May

THE ELMS CARE HOME, EDINBURGHA specialist service, caring for people who are clinically diagnosed with dementia. We support residents and families throughout their journey of dementia.

l Pray for all the residents of The Elms, as not every day is easy and some days can be more difficult than others. Give thanks that staff are there to guide and support them through the challenges.

l Pray for all the relatives and friends on The Elms. It’s not always easy coming to visit; however we pray that they would continue to be brave and enjoy the time that is left together.

l Give thanks for all the staff, those who provide their energy and focus on seeing past the individual’s dementia. Every day brings its challenges for staff; we thank you Lord that staff have gained the knowledge and skills to remain calm and patient and support the residents as best we can.

l Give thanks to God for bringing us together as a family at The Elms, for guiding us through each day and helping us learn something new about each other.

l Give thanks for the huge team of people we work with, each bringing their own individual skill set and knowledge; each team working together with The Elms to ensure the best service possible is provided to our residents.

l Pray that God would guide and comfort family members as the journey of dementia progresses and guide the staff to ensure that each resident is cared for, respected and shown the love and compassion that they each deserve.

Week beginning Sunday 31st May

MORVEN DAY SERVICES, KILMARNOCK Morven offers support to adults with a mental health problems living in East Ayrshire.

l Pray that Morven would continue to be a place where people feel safe and secure. Give thanks for the friendships that have been made and for helping people to move forward in their lives.

l Pray that God would give strength and courage to those who are struggling. In the midst of their darkness, may they know God’s love and peace.

l As staff minister in the vast and complex area of mental health, pray that they would not lean on their own understanding but remember that Christ once walked where they walk, stood where they stand, felt what they feel and so he understands their circumstances.

l Pray that we would work together in unity as we start each day in your name. Give thanks for the diverse gifts amongst us; we are all clever, talented and gifted in the ways God has endowed us.

l Remember that we can shelter in God’s presence, setting us free from the traps that seek to control our lives. Wherever we go today, remind us that God’s protective hand is upon us.

l Help us realise that when God says no, it’s because he doesn’t want us to have second best or to settle for less, but has greater things ahead.

l Give thanks that the centre provides a supportive environment where people can learn new skills, meet and make new friends.
