CROSSFIT RIO RANCHO TO HOST FIRST ANNUAL SUICIDE AWARENESS THROWDOWN

Rio Rancho, NM (March 6, 2019) - CrossFit Rio Rancho will host the first annual McLaren Cup Suicide Awareness Throwdown Saturday, April 13 from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rio Rancho High School Football Stadium.

RRHS and V. Sue Cleveland High School football teams along with two-person same-sex teams will go head to head in a CrossFit style competition to raise money for Breaking the Silence New Mexico, an organization that raises community awareness about the myths and stereotypes that reinforce the silence about mental illness and suicide.

To register as a competitor email your team name and participant names to [email protected]. Then post a video on social media of your team doing five burpees in a public place, let us know your team name on the video and say "We are participating in the McLaren Cup Suicide Awareness Wod at RRHS Football Stadium on April 13." Feel free to call out and tag other people who should attend the event. Don't forget to tag #CFRR #youmatter.

The workout will have three levels of competition: Fitness, Rx and Rx+.

Cost for the event is a minimum $1 donation for spectators and a $10 minimum donation for competitors at the door.

The throwdown honors McLaren Jonas, who tragically lost his life to suicide in 2017.

Food trucks, a car show, vendors and a live t-shirt printing will be available during the event.
