The Journey Campaign Continues The Journey Capital Campaign continues. Thank you for your faithfulness and obedience to God for helping do your part to take care of our church facility—an amazing tool God has allowed us to have to reach the lost, train disciples, and impact our community.

The Capital Campaign helps raise funds to pay the monthly mortgage on our facility. The monthly mort-gage is approximately $8,000. It truly takes every family at Cross Point being obedient to work together to accomplish this task. It’s not too late to get in-volved! Every gift, no matter the size, helps reach our goal. If you would like to learn more about The Jour-

ney, please pick up a campaign booklet at the Welcome Center in the lobby.

Don’t forget, when donating gifts to the Capital Cam-paign be sure to write “Building Fund” on the memo line of your check or check the appropriate box on a tithing envelope.

Monthly Goal: $8,000.00 Received for November: $5,758.33

Operation Christmas Child Each year Cross Point Church partici-pates in Operation Christmas Child by packing shoeboxes full of toys, hy-giene items, art supplies, clothing, and more. These boxes are then sent to a boy or girl around the world. Each box also receives the message of Jesus Christ and His love and forgiveness in the child’s language. Cross Point Church filled 50 shoe-boxes this year! The boxes were prayed over and delivered to our local collection site to begin their journey to

a boy or girl around the world. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s outreach.

Christ’s Birthday Observance The word Advent is derived from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming.” The Advent season lasts for four Sundays. This year’s Advent begins on Sunday, December 3, and, as always, ends on Sunday, December 24. The Advent celebration is both a commemoration of Christ’s first coming and an anticipation of his second coming. As Israel longed for their Messiah to come, so Christians long for their Savior to come again. Please join your church family and churches around the world for the 2017 Christ’s Birthday Observance as we celebrate the birth of Christ collectively and say, “Come Lord Jesus.” Our scripture this year is Titus 2:13—“…while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed” (NLT). In the 1949 issue of Friends of Missions, Mary Lovely wrote an article titled “How Far on Christ’s Offering.” In her arti-cle, Mary asked these important questions: Is Christ’s name on our Christmas list? What will be our gift to him on his birthday? My question to you today is if we say, “Come Lord Jesus,” are we ready to give of our talents, time, and resources to Christ? I find the answer to this question to be a re-sounding Yes!

Together we will pray with and for each other during this Christmas season. We will spend time in devotion and thought through the Meditation Journal. We will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ through our gifts and by generously con-tributing to the Christ’s Birthday Observance of-fering. You make a significant difference in the work of the Church of God through your prayers, devotion, and gifts. Almost every ministry of the Church of God is touched in some way by the Christ’s Birthday Observance offering. This church-wide offering supports Church of God Ministries (including Global Strategy, the Church of God Convention, and the International Youth Convention, and much more) and the endorsed agencies, including our colleges and universities and Servant Solutions. Through Christian Women Connection, mission projects, leadership develop-ment, scholarships, and women’s ministries are funded. The Christ’s Birthday Offering will be received December 24. Prayerfully consider your gift to help support missions work around the world. Join your church family as we celebrate Jesus this Christmas season!

Peru & Back A Youth Pastor’s Journey—Part 4

To often it is the norm in the United States Chris-tian culture to sit back and allow others to step up and serve. We allow outside distractions, lies and fear from the enemy, and general apathy of the heart towards putting oneself out into accountability keep us from getting in-volved. What most fail to understand is that serving is a step of obedience where we experience God in an amazing way. The bible states, “Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dis-missed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considera-ble distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immedi-ately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Je-sus” (Matthew 14: 22-29 NIV). God is challenges all of us to come down out of the boat and experience Him. Because Peter was willing to take that step in that moment he experienced two things that no other human has. One, he walked on water…. for a moment. Second, he experienced Jesus physically saving his life. Peter got to hold Jesus’s hand in the storm. When we walk with Jesus and begin to trust Him with every-thing from our daily schedules, to routines, to hardships, and even storms, it is often during these times we can see and feel Jesus holding out His hand and wanting to help just as He did with Peter on the Sea of Galilee two thou-sand years ago. While on our trip in Peru, the students and adults had several opportunities to use their gifts and talents for God. They took that step of obedience and God blessed them in big ways. Our team helped with crafts for school kids, fed the hungry, taught leadership principles, led wor-ship, preached the Gospel, fellowshipped with kids in games and camp fires, and took steps in loving people as God commands us to do.

Prayer Chain Prayer is a powerful tool we have as Christians. As a church family we can help lift each other up in prayer. One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Pray-er Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When an ur-gent prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684.
