Most major crimes arent usuallysolved as a result of brilliantinvestigation by the Police, but as adirect result of information provided

by the public the missing pieces .Crime Stoppers Bermuda is a community actionprogramme that was created so that anyone couldsafely provide information on criminal activity withoutfear of exposure or retribution. Rewards of up to $2,000are also offered for information leading to a successfularrest or seizure of illegal drugs and rearms .

The Board of Directors, the governing body of CrimeStoppers Bermuda , is comprised of a group of civilian

volunteers, while the programme itself is tri-partied,involving Law Enforcement, Media, and the Community.The programmes coordinator links information receivedwith the appropriate law enforcement agencies. CrimeStoppers Bermuda is afliated with Crime StoppersInternational, who have programmes operating incommunities around the world.

With Crime Stoppers Bermuda , everyone can becomeinvolved in the ght against crime in Bermuda and make

our community a better place to live, work, go to schoolor visit as a tourist or on business.

How does the Crime StoppersBermuda programme work?

The rst step is to make the call phone 800-8477(TIPS). Your call is free f rom any phone and is completelyanonymous. It will not appear on any telephone bill or

record anywhere. Your call is answered in Florida by Miami-Dade

Crime Stoppers. It cannot be traced. Information isrelayed back to Crime Stoppers Bermuda electronicallyand relayed to the relevant law enforcement agencies.

You will not be asked for your name , address or phonenumber, just for information about a crime.

If you want to give additional information or claim areward , you will be given a code number, so that youcan call back 30 days later to check if you are eligible.

If your information led to an arrest , you will be eligiblefor a reward. You decide how your reward will be paid the place and method of payment is determinedcompletely by you and relayed to the co-ordinator.

Alternatively, go online to www.crimestoppers.bm andfollow the instructions to submit a web tip. The processis completely secure and anonymous and provides an

effective means of safely communicating with CrimeStoppers Bermuda. If you wish, you can return to thewebsite to provide additional information to your tipat any time through the same secure and encryptedinterface, as long as you remember your electronicallygenerated password, which will be provided to youwhen you submit the original tip.

You will never have to talk to the Police or appear in Court.
