Welcome to the first WFTDA European tournament!

Crime City Rollers are proud to be hosting the first WFTDA tournament in Europe in our hometown Malmö. We have prepared this folder in order to give you the information you may need during your stay.

Registration Teams: Registration for teams and bench crew will start at 19:30 on Thursday Nov. 13th at the Meet and Greet, please check schedule. Your team’s bench coach or captains are responsibe for picking up passes for all team skaters. Officials: Head official is Cherry Fury, London Rollergirls & Southern Discomfort Roller Derby. And Head NSO is Dangerous Danger, London Rollergirls. Registration for officials starts at 19:30 on Thursday Nov. 13th at the Meet and Greet. Sponsors: Regestration is on Thursday Nov. 13th between 14:00 and 18:00. Venue Baltiska Hallen Eric Perssons väg 5 Tel: +46 4034 2686 Baltiska Hallen is a versatile sports and entertainment venue and in the foyer there is a Sports Museum. There is a small snack bar in the venue, and the nearest cash machine is located at Malmö Stadium at O’Learys Restaurant. The venue is also only a fifteen minute walk from ICA supermarket and the Mobilia shopping mall. The floor is sports court. Many of our skaters use Jukes 93-97, Lowboys or G-rods.

About Malmö Malmö has gone by many names - Sweden’s Berlin, the Swedish Portland, the City of Thieves, and recently, the lesbian capital of Sweden. Traditionally, Malmö was a working class city. When the iconic landmark Kockumskranen, the lift used in Malmö’s shipbuilding industry, was sold in the 1990s many were upset. If you visit Nobes you will be guaranteed to meet people who still rage about this. Today, Malmö is a city that invests in culture. It is also a city which loves roller derby - Crime City Rollers been supported by the city and we have been lucky to get both venues and training times in the city. We have over 100 members in our league, although our city has only 300 000 inhabitants.

Getting here From Copenhagen Airport Kastrup, Denmark take the train to Malmö (around 8 euro). From Malmö Airport there is a bus to the city for 10 euro, or a taxi for 50 euro. By train, Triangeln station is closest (15 min walk) or you can take bus nr. 3 (from Malmö C) to Stadion (5 min walk to Baltiska). International buses stop at Malmö C.

Getting around Taking taxis is cheap in Malmö (6-10 euros), but make sure to take official taxis!Skånetrafiken (skanetrafiken.se) run the buses and trains. You can’t pay with cash on the green buses, so buy a JoJo card at Skånetrafiken at Malmö C, Triangeln trainstation or a Pressbyrån or a 7/11 convinience store. One bus journey is about 2 euro. Malmö is small though - from the venue to downtown takes about 30 min to walk.

CCR’s favourite picks in Malmö

The Reptilezoo in Folkets Park This is the weirdest place in Malmö. It costs 7 euro and its worth it. There are very old and friendly (or vengeful) macaws and other parrots who walk up to you and start discussions, staring or doing frustrated tricks. There is also a turtle which can bite off your arm, crocodiles, snakes and bugs. Everything is moldy or broken. In the museum-”cupboards”, the expositions are halfeaten and covered in spiderwebs. Wars are taking place in and around the displayed stuffed animals, infested with new lifeforms. A true cabinet of curiosities, decay, evil, life and death. I love this place.JJ Furry

The Secret Pool Place - Biljarden You can enter through a graffitied staircase that opens into the large dimly lit pool hall of your dreams. Challenge some old timers to a game of pool, or play a loud and exciting game of shuffle board. This might be the cheapest beer in town, and is definitely my favorite way to spend an evening. Malmö Konsthall Well known for quality art, Malmö Konsthall is a really great location and is free. It is also fairly close to the venue near Trianglen train station. Mighty Mountie

Nobes pub on Kristianstadsgatan A frequent watering hole for officials and their hangarounds. With its cosy atmosphere, you can be sure to befriend or befoe at least one of the regulars during your visit. You can have a light beer and order a roller derby special - a veggie burger with bacon - the food is cheap but a-ok! Tacky Tracktor

Falefel and vegan-pizza Malmö is famous for falafel. The best falafels in town are at Jalla Jalla and Möllans falafel on Bergsgatan close to the main Möllan square. Also try out the best vegan pizza at Möllans Pizzeria on Ystadsgatan.
