It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Crichton Campus! My name is JamaineJepson and I am the President of the student association (CUCSA) for UWSand GU. I am in second year studying PrimaryEducation with Teaching Qualification. My first yearat university has been one to remember. Dumfries

is a great place as long as you make the most ofthe opportunities available. My aim is to ensurethat you have a fantastic experience throughoutyour university years. One way to make firstyear unforgettable is to get involved in asmuch as possible. CUCSA and I aim toprovide great events in town, on campus,and support clubs and societies throughoutthe year. Remember, make sure that you

make the most out of freshers week and GET involved. I look forward tomeeting you all, I am always happy to stop and chat. If there is anything I canhelp you with give me a shout.

Download is a youth-led online outreach advice andsupport service for young people across Dumfries &Galloway. The service runs in partnership between D&GLGBT Centre and The Youth Enquiry Service.

Our youth activists are online every Monday eveningfrom 7-9pm and are trained in a variety of youth issues to ensure that they are able tooffer the best support to you on any issue that you may have. You can contact Down-

Film Night @ The Robert Burns CentreLooking for a quieter option the RBC will have a film screening just for us.

9pm Pub golf - list available on the nightQuick putt around prospective pubs in Dumfries. Grab your club and cap and let the

challenges commence. Well end up at Venue for a special Freshers opening just for us.

8.30pm Beach party @ the queensberryNo matter what the weather we are going to the beach. How low can you go in

our limbo challenge? Can you get the coconut to the top without a losing a drop?

Challenges, chuckles and plenty more.

Make Dumfries your own and discover the happenings on a Saturday night.

8pm @ Dj vuNewly opened, we welcome all students for an underwater themed night with

free pizza and prizes. Are you ready for some fun under the sea?

Event Spotlight:

Freshers Fair12noon, Wednesday 18th @ Maxwell House.

This year were giving our The Freshers Fair a festival feel with live bands

and plenty of stalls, tents and even a boat! This is your chance to see whats

on offer not only around campus but around Dumfries and further afield. We

will have representatives from all our sports teams for you to come and chat

to. Find out about training, competitions and team social events. Theres

plenty of choice whether you enjoy a friendly game of footie or a riveting race

as part of the rowing team. Our campus also has a couple of clubs for you to

get involved in. Come talk to us on the stalls.

Fancy some freebies? There will also be a plethora of companies just waiting

to hand you their latest info, vouchers and the odd freebie all because you

are a new student in Dumfries. This is the perfect opportunity to see some of

the community groups, services and nightlife options available around town.
