Student support servicesThroughout your time at Confetti you’ll have the one-to-one support of a personal tutor, as well as your course tutors. In addition, there’s a whole range of different student support services available, including:

time here

English, maths & personal development You’ll need an English and maths GCSE at C grade and above to progress on to higher level courses. Having these qualifications also demonstrates you have the skills essential to any creative industry professional, for example: effective communication, whether written or verbal, budgeting your own finances or writing a business proposal. We’ve got lots of experience delivering these important subjects to students in a way that makes them relevant and interesting, and we’ll be able to help you improve, even if you haven’t done well at school.

English and maths are embedded into your course, and if you’ve yet to achieve a grade C or above at GCSE, you’ll do the qualification as part of your programme of study.

You’ll also take part in personal development sessions to help prepare you for working life and build your confidence.

Right for you:If you have an interest and desire to work in the creative industries, but didn’t get the grades you wanted, this course could be a second chance for you to achieve great things.

Alongside these you’ll also study maths, English and personal & social development, getting you ready for your next step.

You’ll need:Ideally, you’ll have achieved a GCSE grade E in English and maths. However, if you haven’t, we’ll give you the opportunity to prove you can work at this level. If you move to the next stage of education with us, you’ll retake your GCSE English & maths with us here at Confetti.

P E R F O R M A N C E >Study a Performance course with us and you’ll work in our exceptional facilities in the heart of Nottingham and with our team of professional tutors. Achieving success as a performer requires a great deal of determination and a constant desire to improve. Our performance courses will help develop your instrumental and songwriting skills with opportunities to perform at the biggest and best venues around Nottingham. As you move through your educational career, you’ll be supported through to a degree-level course at our Higher Education centre, or straight into industry; developing a strong portfolio of work and the skills needed to be successful.

I’ve had great opportunities, like performing live at the Arts Theatre. I’ve got so much more insight into

what’s needed to work in the music industry.

Right for you:Learn all the skills necessary to record, mix and master music in professional studios. You will also manage and engineer a live, large-scale music event. From exploring compositions and creating film soundtracks to working with musicians and industry professionals, this course gives you an access-all-areas pass to the mechanics of studio recording, production and live engineering.

An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience.

You’ll learn to create backing tracks, develop songwriting techniques, work with our in-house record label and regularly perform your own music. Your hard work will culminate in the creation of your own music portfolio and with performances at large-scale music events. You could even find yourself signed to Confetti’s sister business, Denizen Recordings.

You’ll need: 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and maths grade C or above.

An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in the subject area.

T V & F I L M > Our TV & Film courses cover a broad range of subject areas; so whether your passion lies in broadcast production, visual effects or in developing your film-making skills, we have a course for you. During your time with us, you’ll work in our industry-standard facilities in the heart of Nottingham, with our team of professional tutors and on Nottinghamshire’s own TV channel, Notts TV. Film students also enjoy the benefit of expert guest tuition from our in-house film & Bafta-winning post-production company – Spool. Want to learn how to create the effects that support the TV & Film industry? Study Visual Effects with us and you’ll use cutting-edge software to learn a range of techniques. As you progress with us, you’ll be supported through to a degree-level course at our Higher Education centre, or straight into industry, developing a strong portfolio of work and the skills needed to succeed in the TV & Film industry.

Right for you:Ever wanted to make a short film or music video? Watched documentaries on TV and thought ‘I could do that’? This is your chance. Aimed at aspiring writers, producers and directors – this course combines theory and practice to give you an all-round understanding of the highly competitive and exciting TV & Film industries. The course builds on your passion for film-making and is the only TV & Film course working directly in partnership with a real television station.

Our Digital Media courses will develop your creative skills across these digital platforms, so from branding and graphic design to mobile app development and web design, you’ll learn how to harness new technologies and solve creative problems through working with real clients. You’ll learn your craft working on real industry briefs, using the latest cutting-edge equipment and working alongside some of the biggest names in Digital Media. Kriss Barton, 18 – L3 Games Technology

G A M E S > Study a Games course with us and you’ll learn about every aspect of games design. From concept to production, through to testing and launch – your industry-trained tutors will support and teach you the practical and technical skills needed to produce your own portfolio, using the latest industry-standard software and resource programs. You’ll work with 3D Studio Max, Maya, Mudbox, Unreal Development Kit, Ren Pi, GameMaker and Photoshop, and along with the benefits of attending lectures and workshops – you’ll also get access to specialist guest speakers from across gaming. Our unique relationship with GameCity and the National Videogame Arcade means you’ll have access to gaming conventions and opportunities across Europe, giving you everything you’ll need to forge a career in this fast-growing industry. As you move through your educational career, you’ll be supported on to our Foundation Degree in Games Technology, or straight into the industry – developing a strong portfolio of work that’ll help you get noticed.

Learning how to plan and programme your own game, you’ll use Photoshop to produce graphics and manipulate images, develop an understanding of the games-testing cycle and produce your own bug reports. M U S I C >With over 20 years’ experience, music is where we started. We’ve grown considerably since 1994 and now provide the most exciting and industry-focused music courses in the UK. You can expect to work on real recording sessions, real events, and complete real industry projects, using our cutting-edge equipment. During your time with us, you’ll work alongside students from other courses, with our in-house, commercial record label, Denizen – and get access to some of the most influential guest speakers in the UK. Have a strong interest in events? Our Technical Events course offers exciting opportunities within the live event industry. From large venue live sound, festivals and concerts, to stage and production management; we’ll provide you with practical experiences within professional venues. As you move through your educational career, you’ll be supported through to our degree-level music course at our Higher Education centre, or straight into industry – developing a strong portfolio of work and the skills and contacts needed to succeed in the music industry.

You’ll discover and develop your own compositional flair and construct your own audio portfolio of work.

Right for you:Learn all the skills necessary to produce and record your own EP as well as produce and engineer a live, large-scale music event. From exploring compositions and creating film soundtracks to working with musicians and music industry professionals – this course gives you an access-all-areas pass to the mechanics of studio recording, production and live engineering.

You’ll need: 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and maths grade C or above.

An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in the subject area.

On the course you will:• Develop skills in studio and live sound engineering• Develop audio production skills for a wide range of digital media• Develop knowledge of the music industry and entrepreneurial skills• Have access to industry-standard equipment and recording facilities

Right for you:This practical programme teaches expertise in a range of areas; in particular DJ-ing and music production. Taking you through all the steps of production, from laying down your original sounds to mixing, mastering and marketing your final products; you’ll also work towards achieving your studio licence, giving you access to FREE studio time in the evening.

You’ll need: 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and maths grade C or above.

An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in the subject area.

On the course you’ll:• Develop creative and technical skills in music production• Develop creative and technical DJ skills• Have access to leading industry figures and companies• Have access to industry-standard equipment and technologies• Develop an understanding of the electronic & urban music industries and cultures• Develop creative and technical skills in sound engineering

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in

Right for you:Learn the nuts and bolts of the live events industry; from PA systems and rigging lighting equipment to advanced techniques in stage lighting, as well as recording & mixing. Your skills will be put into practice at some of the East Midlands’ largest festivals and events, where you’ll help to run and stage productions.

You’ll need: 5 GCSEs A*-C including English and maths grade C or above.

An appreciation of and passion for the subject with a level of practical experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in the subject area.

On the course you’ll:• Learn about different areas and employment opportunities in the events industry• Learn practical skills in live sound and event lighting• Work on practical industry-based projects• Create links across the technical events industry• Develop a range of practical and theoretical knowledge in sound, lighting and

production management• Work as part of a production team with ownership of your own events

Next steps:Go on to study our Foundation Degree in Live & Technical Events or head straight into your career. This course could lead to a variety of roles, including production management, live sound engineering, lighting engineering or stage management.

Direct Debit instalment planPaying everything upfront sound a bit daunting? Fees can be paid in full at enrolment or you can sign a direct debit agreement which allows you to break your fees down into four more manageable payments. There’s no administration fee for this facility. Please contact EST to find out more.

Do you have to pay? There are some circumstances in which students aged 19+ don’t need to pay any fees at all. Some of these include:

• Being in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance• Being in receipt of Employment Support Allowance • Unemployed and in receipt of state benefits (Housing Benefit, Council Tax
