CV Group Presents Program on How to Co-Exist with Coyotes
“Wild E.” Coyote
Ken Pellman, LA County pub-
lic information officer, will speak
on the subject “Living Side-by-
Side with Coyotes,” on Tuesday,
January 10, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. at
the LA County Library, 2809 Foot-
hill Blvd., La Crescenta.
As Public Information Officer
for the County of Los Angeles De-
partment of Agricultural Commis-
sioner, Pellman works to manage
coyotes in unincorporated areas
and cities that contract with the de-
partment.
Also, on the program will be
Dana Stangel, a wildlife advocate,
who heads her own non-profit Ter-
anga Ranch. She will provide in-
formation about the benefits of lo-
cal wildlife.
Coyotes are frequent visitors in
residential areas. Therefore, it is
essential that we learn how to co-
exist with them. Our program be-
gins following news of Conserva-
tion and Outings.
This a free event and everyone
is welcome. Refreshments
will be served. Please
contact Wayne Fisher,
Program Chair for further
information at 818 353-
4181.

Total Eclipse of the Sun Viewing and Sightseeing Tour August 17 -22, 2017
Our club’s international travel
leader Fred Dong is taking a group
on what promises to be another ex-
citing adventure. This trip goes from
Yellowstone, to the Grand Teton,
and to Craters of the Moon.
The six-day excursion is set for
August 17 -22, 2017. This exciting
occasion promises the viewing of
Old Faithful”, bubbling mud pots,
Fountain Paint pot, multi-colored
Artist Paint pots, Norris Geyser Ba-
sin, hundreds of geysers and thermal
features, Yellowstone Falls, the
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone,
Grand Teton Range, Yellowstone
Lake, Jenny Lake and Jackson Lak,
and gorgeous forests, rivers, water-
falls and mountains.
Yellowstone and Grand Teton are
home to numerous buffalo herds,
elk, deer, moose, wolves, and bears.
They also contain substantial groups of
other animals and birds. In sum, you
will see lots of wildlife! For that prima-
ry reason, Yellowstone has been
dubbed the “American Serengeti.”
The group may participate on some
NPS Ranger led hikes and will have
hiking opportunities and time to ex-
plore natural features on their own.
Craters of the Moon National
Monument is the largest mostly
Holocene-aged basaltic lava field in
the contiguous United States. The
Monument and Preserve contain
more than 25 volcanic cones, in-
cluding outstanding examples of
spatter cones.
The trip is $1,425 Single or
coupes (per person), two persons
per room; For non-Sierra Club
members, there is an additional fee
of $100.
