Project Background

-- Expo Line scheduled to open in 2011

-- Opportunities exist for transportation projects to improve access to the Crenshaw Blvd.

--There is a focus on making the corridor amenity-rich while respecting the history and character of the neighborhood

-- CD 10 (Herb Wesson) has begun analyzing this corridor for potential TOD*

*(Draft Mid-City Crenshaw Visioning Plan)

Crenshaw Corridor Analysis

-Median Income is lower at areas with higher densities-This map indicates that large share of the communities along the corridor fall within a low to mid income group.-These groups will serve as the basis for my spatial analysis

-This map displays transit dependent groups (under 18 and over 64) over actual ridership-It confirms that there a need for a convenient shuttle

• Density Exists at the beginning and end of the corridor

• There exists opportunity for density increases near the Expo Line Stop.

-Hotspot Analysis shows the areas in which a TOD site would be most desirable

- -I placed a greater weight on proximity to local high schools, followed by transit dependence, population density and median income

- -The two ideal sites resulting from the analysis would be at Slauson Ave and Exposition Blvd

- -1/8th mile buffer chosen to show the approximate lot setback for a potential TOD

- -- The Shuttle will run at 15 minute headways on weekdays and 30 minutes on weekends

- - Fares of $.25 will be equitable to transit dependent target group
