Anyone else see…those bright orange lights in thesky Monday night?
A friend told me he was on his usualevening stroll ‘round town just after 9:30on Monday evening and observed severalbright orange lights coming from the di-rection of Spences Bridge. He said hethought they might be helicopters, theywere quite a bit lower than the interior-to-the-coast plane & a long-haul jet that bothflew over the valley around the same time,but the orange lights made no sound… Hecounted 7 of them. He says they came oneafter the other, silently over the valley overabout 10 minutes, then took a sharp rightturn to the south, around Iron Mountain,and went out of sight.
About 11pm Monday evening, Ilooked out my south-east facing window& saw a steady bright orange light in thesky, in the usual path of the moon & plan-ets that pass across the sky. It was defi-nitely not Mars. It was much too small tobe the moon, and much too big to be astar or planet. Weird.
So — anyone else see those bright or-ange lights in the sky Monday night?(Haha, nO. nOt an April Fool’s joke) —KL

It is with great sadness we an-nounce the passing of Agnes ElizabethDunnigan (nee Chaplin) of Merritt BCfollowing a courageous journey withcancer on March 29th 2014.
Agnes was born January 30th, 1945in Salmon Arm, BC. Agnes passedaway peacefully at home surroundedby her family and close friends.
Agnes is predeceased by her hus-band of 42 years Richard Dunnigan,her mother Nancy Chaplin (neeMitchell) of Wales and her father Gor-don Chaplin of the Franklin Islands.
Agnes married her true love Richardand together they had two childrenDavid (Sheila Karolyi) and Susie(Joshua Wiese). Agnes' pride and joywere her four beautiful grandchildrenCassidy, (Dave and Sheila) Madeleine,Calleigh and Finnegan (Susie and Josh).Family and spending time with hergrandchildren was Agnes' favouritepastime. Agnes' home was filled withpictures of vacations with the grand-children and portraits of the family.Agnes was quick to put the needs of herfamily well before hers, loving uncon-ditionally for her family and friends.
Agnes and Richard settled in theNicola Valley and called Merritt theirhome. Agnes was well known in thecommunity as a teacher, then after tak-ing time off to raise David and Susie,she returned to work in the schools asan special education assistant.
Agnes and Richard were proud sup-porters of the Merritt Centennials, takingin many billets over the years and at-tending almost every game. Agnes wasa member of the Laureate Gamma PsiChapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sororityand very active within the local organi-zation. Agnes could usually be foundenjoying many long walks in the com-munity she loved dearly or riding her bi-cycle up town to shop or visit friends.
Agnes will be deeply missed and al-ways remembered as a loving wife,mother, momma, grandma and goodfriend to all those who lives were blessedto have known this precious woman.
A celebration of her life will be heldat the Nicola Valley Evangelical FreeChurch located at 1950 Maxwell Ave.,in Merritt, BC on April 5, 2014 at 3 p.m.
