In AS, I created a college magazine and a music magazine. In A2, we are creating a film trailer and a film poster. In these two years, I have developed my creativity and skills by using the digital technology more.

When I created the college magazine as the preliminary task, I was using Photoshop as I needed to remove the green screen from the photos and it is easy to layout the magazine. At this part of the year, I didn’t have much experience in using Photoshop so I wasn’t sure how to use it and what you could do with it. It was also my first time taking photos with a green screen. I didn’t know what types of articles a college magazine would include and what they looked like as I had never seen one before so using the internet, I looked at Google images and this helped me to know what headlines to use for the college magazine and how to lay it out. We needed to do a textual analysis after looking at college magazine covers on the internet so we knew what to do in order to produce a good college magazine.

When doing a music magazine I had to use Photoshop again and my skills had improved because I knew what tools to use and I discovered other tools that I didn’t know about when I was doing the college magazine. For the audience research, I asked friends what they thought about music magazines of the genre that I decided to make and they helped me decide how the magazine could reflect the genre of music. I screenshotted the texts and presented the pictures as a slideshow on the blog. I think that my creativity has improved with the audience research because there are other ways that the audience research could have been found, for example, vox pops and surveys. I created a mood board to show the genre of music being represented and for this I used Microsoft Word but the mood board could have been more creative by using Photoshop to change the background.

To create the Film Poster we did horror style makeup and took pictures of the person with the horror makeup on. When we took pictures, we didn’t use a lot of lighting as horror usually has low- key lighting and when taking the photos the model did different horror poses and the person using the camera took pictures at different angles and shots. For the film trailer, I did some research on the horror genre and how we could use this knowledge in our trailer. I think that I presented the information creatively as I used a lot of images when showing different examples of films in different genres however I could have used different programs to present information instead of just using Microsoft Word. Furthermore, I made a storyboard and an animatic to show our ideas of what shots we were going to use and what would happen in the trailer. I made the animatic using Final Cut Pro as this program is easy to use when editing. I added horror sounds that fitted to the right shots and tried to cut the animatic so that it was like the duration of the trailer.
