General Course InformationThrough the Music Practitioner Creative Music Producer course, you will have the opportunity to develop the following skills:• Apply sound recording methods,• Mix and master audio,• Sequence and produce pieces of music,• Set up backline for live and studio sound,• Understand contextual issues relating to music technology.
How is the course assessed?The majority of the work on this course is internally marked coursework, focusing on music sequencing and production techniques. There is an externally marked Controlled Assessment focusing on recording a live band performance – this is the core unit.
Who’s it for?In order to achieve in this subject you will need 100% commitment; for most of the time you will be working independently on the computer.
It is not essential for you to have studied GCSE Music or the RockschoolMusic Practitioner qualifications at Level 2. If you have not studied Music before, you will need to attend an informal interview with a teacher from the Music Department for them to ascertain your commitment, prior knowledge, skills and enthusiasm, and therefore suitability for the course.
ProgressionWe live in a fast moving world. The Access to Music/Rockschoolqualifications will equip you with skills to take into the music industry but also into other areas, including further study at Higher Education. If you complete the Subsidiary Diploma at Distinction it is worth 240 UCAS points
