Caregivers provide the primary care environ-

ments for children. This workshop aims to

About the Presenter

Leah Gudbjartson-Beaupre is a clinical social worker

in private practice, consultant, and trainer at Lifa Vel

Counselling and Consulting. Leah has a Bachelor of

Recreation Studies (Therapeutic Recreation), and a

Master’s in Social Work from the University of

Manitoba. She has completed Phase 2 level training in

NMT™ from the Child Trauma Academy, and

Advanced Training in the Natural Lifemanship Model

TF-EAP™. She specializes in working with children

and adults impacted by trauma, using a recovery and

resiliency based approach, and incorporates NMT™

principles into her practice. Leah provides therapy in

an office setting, and also conducts animal-assisted

therapy sessions with both horses and dogs. She

works on a casual basis in adult mental health crisis

response services, and also teaches and supports

students in practicum across Canada in the area of

social work practice in mental health for the University

of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work Distance

program.

The Child Trauma Academy

acknowledges that Leah Beaupre has

completed NMT Training Certification

through the Phase II level

Leah is passionate about training and sharing information

in the field. As part of her Master’s work, she created a

Teaching Our Children Sexual Safety program. She has

also created the Green, Yellow, Red Approach as a way

to make talking and teaching regulation and safety easier

for children and their caregivers to understand and com-

municate about how regulated and safe they are feeling.

Leah has presented at the International NMT Symposium

in 2016 on both Animal-Assisted Therapy and the Green,

Yellow, Red Approach using NMT principles.
