Polling Options

Wimba polling feature allows you to create the following types of polls: Multiple choice – a single or multiple response answer Open ended - short answer text reply Questionnaire – a series of questions to display on one page such as

a survey or evaluation. Questions can be multiple-choice or open-ended.

Bullet List -Create a single slide containing bullet items. This is not a poll, but useful for creating accessible content.

Responses to multiple choice and open ended can be displayed to the attendees. Questionnaire responses need to be retrieved as Room Administrator only.

Creating a Poll – to Start

Login to the admin site – www.ndivnlc.wimba.com/admin

Click on the name of the room where you wish to create a poll.

Creating a Poll Folder

STEP 1: Select NEW FOLDER. Create a new folder called Poll or the Name of the Poll

STEP 2: Once the folder has been created, click on it to customize your poll

Select Poll Option

STEP 3:Choose the type of poll you want to create.

In this example, we chose Multiple Choice.

Then click on the CREATE button.

Create Poll Questions

STEP 4 :Complete the titleType out your questionType in response choices

Messages: Type in your participant instructions and confirmation message or use the default message provided.

You can allow one or more responses. Choose your background and font color.

STEP 5: Click on Save Changes. This will then bring you back to the Modify Folder page. See next slide.

Creating a Poll – Finishing Steps

Click on Save Changes – one more time.

Then click on the Content tab to return to the Content Management page. Click Exit if finished.

When you do so, you will notice a message informing you it has been updated.

Can you edit a poll? Yes

Should you decide to change a question, go to the Content Management page and click on your Poll folder.

Then click on the edit button – a pencil, for the poll you wish to change.

Preview Poll

It is recommended that you enter the room to preview your poll before using it.

During the presentation ,only the response tab on the left is visible to the presenter. The presenter can choose to preview results before publishing them to the participants.

Publishing Responses

Click on the Publish button and the results will be shown to all attendees.

Retrieve Poll Results

You will now be in the Modify Room page.

Across the top you will see the Poll Results tab. Click on it.

To retrieve Questionnaire polling results, you will need to have Room Administrator access.

For Wimba Rooms set up outside of Blackboard, WebCT or Moodle, go to www.ndivnlc.wimba.com/admin

Click on the Room name to begin.

Retrieving Poll Results (cont.)

Choose which items you want to select from the columns on the left and post them to the right.

Click View Report for responses.

Poll Results

Download Data: Data is saved as a .tsv extension which is in NotePad format. Open it up in Excel for easier viewing access OR just copy and paste the document on the screen

Your responses will be listed in this summary which will include who responded – just like a survey poll.
