Now Layar needs the first page for your campaign, so this will be the poster that you want to use with the AR. For example a PDF or .JPG of a promotional poster for an event for example, or even a prospectus, something like the example below:

After you have selected you file and uploaded it, the analysing pages page appears, you don’t need to wait until this has finished analysing, so go ahead and click on ‘Start creating’.

You’ll now be inside the creator area, where you can start adding AR to your poster, this is essentially split into three different sections, which are: Manage pages, the main design area and the widgets and AR buttons.

Now to begin with we will just create a basic link to another website. To do this click on the drop-down button on the right-hand side of the screen called ‘Basic’ - now click on ‘Website’. This will bring up the editor for the website button, simply enter the URL for the website you want to link to and what colour you want the button to be and click on ‘Apply changes’.

You’ll now see the website button appear on top of your poster, click it and drag it to where you would like it displayed when someone scans your poster with the Layar application. You can also make the button larger or smaller by clicking on it and using the handles at each corner of the button to click and drag. Save the AR poster and collapse the Basic button box.

Now expand the ‘Media’ box on the right-hand side and click on the video button. Now for the purposes of this presentation we will just use a YouTube video. So use the following URL address and paste into the Video URL box: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOcx6D2-AXc – it will load the video and then click on ‘Apply changes’

Now click and drag the video on the poster to where you want the AR learning object to appear when scanned. Then once you are happy with where it is, run a test. On the pop-up image use your smart device with the Layer app loaded onto it and make sure you are logged into the layer app. Then scan the pop=-up image with the device.
