creating a house style
TRANSCRIPT
Creating A House StyleI have tried to create continuity across all three products by creating a house style.
The Music Video
This video was my first product from which I conducted both of my ancillary texts. It was then very important to create a good basis for building media products from. This is because the features which
appear in this video would be used across both ancillary texts.
Ancillary Text 1 - Digipak
I have followed the conventions of a Digipak and created my own continuity across the product. I kept the font colours white and black and the style of font very similar. I added two B/W images whilst all
the other images where in colour. The same artist appears across each section to create continuity.
Ancillary Text 2 – Poster/Music AdMy second ancillary text
follows the conventions of a music poster. I have added an image of the front of my
CD which links to my digipak. I then chose the same image for my poster
with the same effects which creates a house style. The font style and colours also
link in with my other products.
For example I have kept the website in the same colour
and style.
Ancillary Text 1 & 2
1. I have used the same font colour and style for the name of my artist (Hope).2. I kept the main image of my artist the same on both products (identical images so they have the same effects).3. The sea theme links across both products.4. I have used the same website in the same font colour and style.
CostumeThe artist appears in a variety of costumes in
the music video. Therefore I chose two costumes from the video to use on the
Digipak. Then I featured the artist on the poster wearing the most dominant clothing worn throughout the video. The young girl
(when outside) wears the same coat but changes part of her outfit to show a change in
narrative/story line.
LocationsI chose to place my artist in five locations; inside a
car, inside a house, outside woods, outside park and the beach. I kept this the same throughout all three
products. However the most dominant feature is when the artist is walking on the beach towards the
camera. Hence why I used this image on both my ancillary texts.
TransformationThe artist goes through a time of
transformation in the music video. I then chose to replicate this in the
Digipak because when you open it up, you are taken on a journey from the beginning to the end. The actually transformation occurs in the video
which encourages people to watch the video as well as buying the digipak.
The ArtistThe artist remains the same throughout all three products. On my ancillary texts you
do not see the young girls face. This is because I took inspiration from Sia and wanted to create a theme around the
music/music video and not the appearance of the artist. The face of the artist only
appears in the music video and it is a very dominant feature which is key to the
narrative.
Font Colour/StyleI mainly used a white and black colour scheme
because these colours stood out against the beach area. I added a dark blue to my Poster as this
colour can be seen as a connotation of the sea and being pure and clean. I decide to keep a classic
style of font to suit my genre and I then implemented this across both ancillary texts.
