Jeff Davi

Commissioner Jeff Davi, the Chinese Real Estate Association of America’s 2011 Distinguished Service Award Honoree, is no stranger to the real estate industry. His involvement in this industry has been broad and deep and his responsibilities have spanned the private and public sectors.

In the private sector, Realtor ®Jeff Davi developed considerable understanding of the practical side of the business as manager of a family owned real estate company in California’s Monterey County. He had oversight of residential and commercial transactions and his work experience included real estate sales, leasing, management and financing. He knows how to do business.

In the world of organized real estate, Leader Jeff Davi served his fellow Realtors® as a California Association of Realtors® Director and as the Monterey County Association of Realtors® President. He gained experience in the non-profit side of organized real estate when he co-founded the Affordable Housing Steering Council of Monterey County.

On October 6, 2004, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Jeff Davi as Real Estate Commissioner for the State of California and Commissioner Davi became California’s chief public servant and regulator for the states real estate industry. He had oversight of at times over 543,000 real estate licensees and with his staff of approximately 342 worked to vigilantly protect consumers in the context of improving the professionalism of the practitioners who serve these consumers.

It is in his role as Real Estate Commissioner that CREAA knows Jeff Davi best, because he is truly not a stranger to our members. Commissioner Davi has been a fixture at CREAA’s installation banquets from the date of his appointment and our members have the confidence that they can intelligently discuss real estate issues with a regulator who listens and understands.

CREAA also knows that it has an association voice in real estate issues. Commissioner Davi regularly reached out to our members with appointments on task forces and work groups to bring the perspective of the practitioners who serve the Chinese American real estate industry into the discussion. One such task force recommended the inclusion of DRE license numbers on business cards and other first contact material. This is invaluable for transparency and accountability in real estate transactions for both consumers and licensees when the consumer does not use English as his preferred language.
