Crater Floor Stratigraphy Latitude/longitude: -4.57 North, 137.31 East Rationale: Several crater floor units are exposed in close proximity to each other at this location. Morphology: The high-TI portion of the fan ends here as a thin, fractured unit which appears to overly a smoother hummocky unit similar to the plains in much of the crater floor. The pitted “mound-skirting unit” appears to overlie both of these. What will the rover specifically do here? Determine whether the ridges are erosion-resistant fractures and study their composition to learn more about the post- depositional environment at Gale.

Crater Floor Stratigraphy Latitude/longitude:-4.57 North, 137.31 East

Rationale: Several crater floor units are exposed in close proximity to each other at this location.

Morphology: The high-TI portion of the fan ends here as a thin, fractured unit which appears to overly a smoother hummocky unit similar to the plains in much of the crater floor. The pitted “mound-skirting unit” appears to overlie both of these.

What will the rover specifically do here?Determine whether the ridges are erosion-resistant fractures and study their composition to learn more about the post-depositional environment at Gale.
