Banie House is the oldest building in town, dating from 1699.
Restored by Constantin Brancoveanu in the architectural style carrying his name, Banie House has two floors,
with rooms with brick vaults downstairs, with bedroom and
balcony upstairs. This is the place where the Divan of
Craiova used to meet.
The former Palace of Justice (now the headquarters of the University) was designed in 1890 by architect John Socolescu.
The edifice is an example of neoclassicism in architecture.
