Blogs Woodlands Online Community Blog The Woodlands Craft Beer & Music Festival by Hailey Pelham Return to Blog After driving 15 minutes looking for somewhere to park (you'd think I would have figured it out by now, living in The Woodlands so long), I finally found a parallel spot across from the Waterway. I'm not the best at parallel parking, but I somehow made it work perfectly. It was definitely humid outside but that didn't stop the crowd heading into the Woodlands Craft Beer Fest. Right across from Market Street, Town Green Park was quickly filling up with people not even an hour after it opened. I wasn’t surprised because between the two days, there was more than 9,000 ‘attending’ via the festival’s Facebook event. General Admission holders (like myself) had the privilege of sampling eight beers, and the event also contained various food vendors, and fortunately a wine vendor, if you wanted to purchase a meal or different beverage. The employees and/or volunteers at each brewery tent were very helpful in explaining in depth, which beer you might prefer according to your stated preferences. With over 40 different breweries and over 80 different craft beers to sample, each guest was bound to find one he or she enjoyed – if not many more. As an individual who typically dislikes the taste of beer, and never drinks it, I shockingly enjoyed a few of the breweries – such as Ballast Point and SweetWater Brewing Companies. Overall, the energy was great. The venue and people were great. The beer was great. And it was definitely a popular venue to host in The Woodlands. And while I didn’t stop to listen to the music, I heard from a distance that the bands were great, and covered many popular artists, such as Sublime, and more. Additionally, many food and outside vendors were a part of the event, including: The Refuge Bar & Bisto, iFly, Crave Cupcakes, Crisp, Hop Scholar Ale House, Stadia Sports Grill, and Brewheart Apparel. When asking a local couple their favorite brewery at the festival, they claimed that Guns & Oil was the best they’d had. Others around me enjoyed the brand as well. Kristen Clark, 22 from The Woodlands, even said “this is my second helping” when speaking of the brew. I heard others ask where the Coors Lights or Coronas were, but otherwise, it seemed as if everyone enjoyed trying the craft beers outside of their comfort zones. It was definitely hot outside, and yes, it was humid, but the attendees of The Woodlands Craft Beer Festival had a great time. With designated driver options (a discounted rate), and many different breweries and vendors, the festival provided a great event for those who attended.
