The potential savings for the economy as a whole from the

transition to a circular economy in Europe:

▪ Net material cost savings of 340 - 380 bn USD per year

in the transition scenario and 520 – 630 bn USD per year in

the advanced scenario

The World Economic Forum estimates that 80 per cent of

the US$ 3.2 trillion value of the global consumer goods

sector is lost irrecoverably each year due to the

linear model.

In addition there are estimated benefits in the following

areas:

• Mitigation of price volatility and supply risk

• Sectoral shift and possible employment benefits

• Reduced externalities

• Lasting benefits for a more resilient and innovative

economy

What about growth?

• To harvest these profits = growth potential

• While the linear growth model is based on

exploitation of resources and labour efficiency

gains, the growth in the circular economy will be

based on increased quality in products and

services

• There will be winners and losers in the

transformation to a circular economy, like in any

transformation

The Circular Economy 100 is a global innovation platform for building capacity and developing cross company,

The setup of the CE100 leverages the power of a unique global network and is focused on the development and
