A Message from the Principal’s Desk
Dear Parents and Community Members,
It has been an amazing two weeks for students at Curlewis Public School with school photos, and
sporting and academic opportunities for our all of our students. Students have competed in
representative sport in PSSA Gymnastics and at our Small Schools Athletics Carnival as well as
participating in the Blackville Spelling Bee and Word Mania. Please take the time to have a look at
through our newsletter for some of the great photos from these activities.
Already there is much excitement building about the wonderful opportunities we have for students
over the next two weeks with our 5/6 Canberra / Snow Excursion and our K/1/2/3/4 Lake Keepit
Excursion. Final information about both these excursions has been sent home and no doubt, the
packing has begun. With so many activities happening external to the school, we have had to
adjust the normal programs / supervision we typically offer. We thank parents for their support and
understanding and hope the calendar below helps keep track of these changes.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students the best of luck at Zone
Athletics tomorrow. We have a team of 23 students attending this year!
Kindest Regards,
Pete Baum

Blackville Spelling Bee
Earlier this week students attended the Blackville
spelling bee with much success. I had the privilege
of co-adjudicating the stage 2 students competition.
I was exceptionally proud of our students and their
efforts. Congratulations to Patricia Parry who came
First in Year 1 and to all of our students who were
runners up. The other clear highlight of the day for
me was the way our students interacted so
positively with peers from other schools.
Gymnastic Success
Awesome Results from the Regional PSSA Gymnastic Competition in Armidale!
Congratulations to Talara Harris who represented Curlewis Public School along with 76 other competitors from 15 schools from across the North West Region in the North West PSSA Gymnastics on the 7th of August 2017.
This competition was held at the Armidale City Gymnastics Centre and Talara was a clear stand out in the Women’s Gymnastics section. Her results were exceptional with a score of 37.7 out of 40 (the third highest score out of all 76 competitors!)
