Company History

Coal Products Limited (CPL) was originally part of British coal, responsible for developing and manufacturing smokeless coal briquettes, which it has been doing since the 1940s.

CPL has since grown to encompass a range of industries, from charcoal and activated carbon, to gardening and renewable energy.

From a unique UK based manufacturing plant, CPL can produce over 350,000 tonnes of solid fuel per year, predominantly smokeless.

CPL Distribution

With 28 depots nationwide, CPL Distribution is the UK’s largest solid fuel supplier.

Their core business is the home delivery of a wide range of coal and smokeless fuel, wood fuel, garden products, and ancillary products such as kindling and firelighters.


CPL’s commercial customers include major multiples in grocery, forecourts, DIY, and garden centres, offering an industry leading range of solid fuels, unique barbecue ranges, charcoal, and solid fuel storage solutions.

CPL Distribution


CPL Renewables

Launched to focus on the installation of wood pellet heating solutions, CPL Renewables is now one of the UK’s leading distributors of wood pellets, utilising a range of advanced delivery vehicles.

CPL has been awarded ENPlus A1 certification for their wood pellet distribution service.


CPL’s specification service includes boiler sizing and selection, thermal accumulation and system packaging, with a design aimed at minimising heat losses.

Wood pellet boilers are installed within existing buildings, or as self contained energy cabins.

CPL offer boilers from a variety of manufacturers, along with installation and maintenance services, finance lease agreements, or Energy Supply Contracts.


CPL Fuels IrelandAlready Irelands leading solid

fuel supplier, CPL Fuels Ireland is set to continue its rapid growth, with a state of the art smokeless fuel plant announced for development at the Port of Foynes.

With the intention of producing the environmentally friendlier Ecoal50, the plant will also create a demand for locally grown biomass materials, hopefully leading to an increase in business for local farmers.


CPL Carbon LinkExperts in the worldwide supply and application of activated carbon filters, CPL Carbon Link offer a wide range of carbon adsorption products, as well as equipment and related services.

CPL Carbon Link also offer ‘Regen-Sys’, a comprehensive service for the reactivation of spent carbon, ensuring their customers can run their business without worrying anout disposal costs, landfill, environmental repercussions, and extra training.


CPL Ceramic Welding

Operating both in the UK and internationally, CPL Ceramic Welding boasts an excellent track record of industrial ceramic weld repairs spanning 25 years.

With the ability to custom make ceramic welding powders, CPL’s team has the experience and product innovation to tackle any repair.


CPL Felthams

Manufacturing protective bags and covers since 1878, CPL Felthams are one of the few remaining cotton bag manufacturers in the UK.

CPL Felthams offer a wide range of eco-friendly cotton bags and specialist protective transit covers for large equipment such as washing machines and plasma TV’s.
