America’s Old West is a treasure trove of stories,

A transfer is included from the Jackson Hole Airport to Jackson Lake Lodge for a two-night stay in the heart of Grand Teton National Park; your heart will be captured by your first sight of the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the Grand Tetons jutting skyward. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner tonight at Jackson Lake Lodge, an eco-friendly resort, where you’ll learn about your upcoming adventures! Meals D
Day 2 – Scenic float trip along the Snake River Get set for a float trip* on the scenic Snake River; your guide introduces you to this wildlife-rich ecosystem, helping you spot the animals that make their homes here, including beaver, eagles, elk and even moose. Following lunch, explore postcard-perfect sights in the park, including sparkling Jenny Lake, en route to the historic town of Jackson; the remainder of the day is free. Meals BL
Day 3 – Stay inside Yellowstone National ParkYou will have the unique opportunity on Cowboy Country today to volunteer with park experts on a service project, made possible by
Tauck’s long-standing relationship with America’s national parks. Tauck received a special Presidential Award for this on-tour volunteer program in the summer of 2006. Drive to Yellowstone National Park, where your inside-the-park accommodations are just steps away from Old Faithful Geyser – which shoots its plume of steam skyward just about every 90 minutes! Join your Tauck Director for sightseeing that features some of Yellowstone’s most famous geologic wonders. Meals BD
Day 4 – Explore America’s oldest national park Start your day with local experts who share stories about the park’s wildlife. Yellowstone National Park protects five threatened or endangered species, including the gray wolf, the whooping crane, the lynx, the bald eagle, and the grizzly bear. Enjoy a picnic lunch, and go exploring with an expert who offers special insights about the “restless” geology of the park, from thundering waterfalls to gurgling mud pots and volcanic calderas. With 10,000 hot springs, two-thirds of all geysers in the world, and lush forests, it’s easy to understand the passionate efforts to protect this land for future generations. Meals BLD

Learn more about his quest to lure settlers to the western frontier at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, home to the world’s largest collection of artifacts depicting the culture, history and art of the American West. Admission to his famous Wild West Show in the late 1800s was 10 cents for children and 25 cents for adults! It’s off to the rodeo tonight, where stunts will be performed by steer wrestlers, buckin’ broncos, barrel riders and rodeo clowns – a memorable show! Meals BD
Day 6 – Spend a night at a real western ranchToday’s drive through Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains includes some pretty amazing sights – watch for cowboys at work in the high altitude grasslands, a spectacular waterfall, all kinds of wildflowers, and deep canyons that make you see how this area was a real part of the “wild west.” Your destination today is The Ranch at Ucross, where you can get a taste of cowboy life during an overnight stay. The ranch offers many activities for family fun – take a leisurely horseback ride*; catch a big Brown or Rainbow in Piney Creek or the ranch’s stocked trout pond; relax by the heated pool; pitch horseshoes; or hunt for frogs by the pond. A campfire in the evening caps a perfect day. Meals BLD

Nothing compares to seeing the four famous presidential faces carved into rock – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt – in person. You’ll hear stories about how 400 workers spent 14 years creating the dream of sculptor Gutzon Borglum. Your week-long trip through the “best of the West” comes to an end this evening with a farewell dinner. Meals BLD
